Pirate size comparisons (1 Viewer)

I don't have any of these but I am a bit surprised to see the Marx figure notably bigger than Barzo's.

I didn't put in an IDEAL pirate as they didn't make one carrying a chest. They are more Barzso sized. I think the MARX pirates are soft plastic versions of the Warriors Of The World series.

I believe you are correct. And the WOW series was 60mm if I remember. So a tab larger than even Marx
54mm.

I think I have a Monarch/Cliff Sanderson 54mm pirate carrying a chest from the 70s/80s. I have most of the Sanderson pirates who have gotten me censured at the local collecting club 30 years ago for their "content." Lizard men carrying off females and dead soldiers were just fine back then but not naughty pirates.

Unless you do a pirate theme set up to a certain date and have all the weapons and clothing appropriate to that date, pirates are just "fun" and pantomime and Gilbert and Sullivan/ Jame Barrey/ Stevenson silly.

So almost anything goes.

Stan at ATS has the 60 mm Marx pirates scaled down to the 54mm version in black. Someone on ebay had them in charcoal, a reddish pink, and other colors. They are nice downsized figures and blend well.

The figure with the shovel and the figure with the oar can make good gunners with a little conversion. I'll use the cheap bag o' repros.

Many of the Marx poses are available at some cake stores as they are used as decorations on pirate themed cakes. Hard plastic and horribly painted but close to 54mm. You might check with your local bakery. I managed to get 6 poses a few years back. Took forever to convince lady to just sell me the figures and not the cake

Hi - it's not.
Cherilea - it's Charbens....Cherilea never made pirates.
Trojan made 54mm copies of the Marx Pirates and the MARX 54mm hard plastic painted pirates were sold in toy stores in England in the 1960s
A while back PLASTIC WARRIOR did a pirate special that had loads of pictures of examples of pirate figures from all over the world.
There were about four companies in France and six in Spain that all made 54 / 60mm buccaneers.
