Plan on attending the 2015 Texas Show (1 Viewer)

Mike, I am game for going to the Market area for some more beef Fajitas after Friday nights party. They were really, really good last year !

Wayne...I have been thinking about going to the Mercado to eat fajitas at La Margarita for a long time...I'm game...had a blast last time...

booked my reservations today...

arriving Friday...leaving Sunday...2 nights...

but I was really disappointed with the deal offered for accomodations this year...
the last few years they offered so many comped incentives...
not this year...

the new rate was $26 lower...from $125 last year to $99 this year...a savings of $26...

but without the comped hotel tax this year...I'm paying an extra $33 in tax...so that's a $7 loser...

they also dropped the free double occupancy (for 2) breakfast buffet for 2 days...at $17 per meal...so that another $68 lost for 2 days...

then the dropped complimentary valet at $28 a day...now cost another $56 for 2 days...

that comes out to an extra $131 this year...

grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!

but I love the Menger...and KingsX is in their lobby...and the show is in their convention room...so I'm still staying there...

I'll have to steal some towels and ashtrays to make up for it...^&grin

The hotel has been booked and the flight has been booked. I am coming with my two nephews and their father.
The nephews 10 and 14 are looking forward to the show and seeing the Alamo.

Now I need to get tickets for Friday and Saturday night.

I look forward to seeing everyone.

All,

I don't think I am going to stay at the Menger this year. Last year creeped me out...seriously. Maybe I am superstitious or something, but where I was staying (the old side) was a little eerie. I might have bought too much into the ghost hype, but man I got no sleep that night.

awwwww...come on man...^&grin...you're kidding right...

I have stayed there at least 20 times in my life...

at least 5 since they remodeled...

the place is beautiful and I have never seen a ghost...

I heard that Dewar's White or John Jameson is like garlic to them...

that's my trick...

Garlic works on vampires, not ghosts, but go with whatever works for you Mike.

And I don't blame John one bit, not a fan of ghosts or anything creepy or haunted.

I ate dinner at the Farnsworth House once in Gettysburg, which is rumored to be the most haunted structure in that town, which I found out DURING dinner.

Not a very pleasant dining experience, couldn't wait to get out of there to be honest.

Don't like messing with ghosts or spirits; but then again, I am 99% sure I lived as a soldier more than once in past lives, died in Custer's Last Stand and on Omaha Beach in Normandy, but that's a whole other story for another time..................

We need a George " Figures in Time " TS set of all his reincarnations including one in a Red Sox uniform. Could be a best seller and future Ebay hot item. Michael

I try not to be superstitious, but I believe some people are more receptive to spooks, than others. Like religion, police, elders, etc, be respectful of all things. You may not believe, but you got to be respectful.

Mike,

Don't get me wrong...I LOVE the Menger Hotel. It is soooo nice, classy and well appointed. Have had brunch there and of course Kings X is there but, uh, I just was not feeling it when I stayed there. I would come out of my room and look right and left it was as if someone was watching me. I sometimes felt like someone was following me. My son felt it too. It was just weird and our room felt hollow and cold.

Now I have not been re-incarnated or anything but I'm just not going to stay there. Remember that I live in SA and don't have to stay downtown, but choose to to hang out with all of you hooligans. So, if I am going to hang out with you guys I am going to stay across the street at the Hyatt or the Rivercenter.

Unless Mike you would like to get a suite together and we can have a seance...with Drewers, Jameson and Crown Royal.

Couldn't agree more; respectful is the key, which is what I am.

I remember one time my cousin and I were visiting the Gettysburg battlefield and it was a nice, sunny day. We stopped near the wheatfield, parked the car and started walking around, going in opposite directions.

Suddenly, clouds rolled in and it got cold.

As in very cold.

We walked back towards each other and both said "Let's get the #$%^ out of here."

We both agreed afterwards we both felt like we were not alone in that wheatfield.

It was eerie and chilling to be honest.

I only thought I was going to worry about how to get the toy soldiers I bought home and now I have to worry about the ghosts too.{eek3}

I plan on being there. Long drive down from Lubbock by myself probably. It'll be a good chance to listen to a book on tape. I look forward to the Friday liquor and band shakeup. Anybody know what the complimentary figure at the meeting will be?
Best Regards, Russ (Arditi)

Russ,

I was just thinking about that the other day and I have not clue!!!

Yes sir, I have an enormous amount of respect for the uh...other side. So, I am not staying at The Menger.

I was in Iwankuni AB, Japan walking home from town, at night in the misty fog once and could have sworn I saw a crew preparing a Zero for a sortie at an abandoned hanger. White Uniforms and all, just like the new K&C figures. Talk about yikes!
