Just a little news from the Texas Show. Ron Barzso confirmed that he will not be doing a WW2 Playset this year as some people speculated.
Just my opinion on this but I was disappointed in the new Parragon troopers and Apaches.
The troopers are pretty nice although they appear a bit smaller than TSSD,s, especially the heads. It,s the Apaches that I really don,t care for. Cannot really pin point what it is but from a distance and their photos they look great, it,s the close up look that disapppoints me. Again my opinion.
TSSD,s new Alamo walls are really nice, I bought the barracks piece, much better than useing those older adobe huts as part of the Alamo.
Gary Dutko had a ton of Alamo, Indian & trooper conversions. He said business was kinda slow early on Saturday, however one customer came and bought a big pile of figures which Gary said made his day.
Talked to Deanna of TSSD and it looks like nothing from WW2 in the near or distant future. I lobbied for it, but I,m afraid to no avail. She did mention what might be next after the Cavalry casualties sets but I will keep quite about it.
Did not see the Union prototypes from Cunninghams as I did not attend the show Sunday and on Saturday he was still awaiting their arrival.
Although not plastic, Build o Rama had an excellent pontoon bridge that you could add on pieces to make it whatever size you want, but along with that came a whooping price tag of $170 for just the basic 2 piece bridge section and 2 ramps.
Lots to do in San Antonio but it sure is hot, 96 degrees every day!

Thx for the update, Gary! Sounds like a good show and place to visit.. despite the mid-90's heat!

Thanks Gary for the show report. I was hoping for more wwll sets. John

Thanks GK,

It will be interesting to see what Barzo does with WW2. Sorry to hear that TSSD won't be going with WW2, but I wish them well with the Cavalry/Indian series. These are fine figures and I hope Nick and Deanna have a big success with them. As far as plastic figures I wish that with the current interests in converting figures (or buying from people like me) that we could get some assorted heads, hands, etc for making conversions.

As a dealer, I thought the Texas show was well attended and had lots of buyers. Saturday seemed to have a lot of people looking, while Sunday had a lot of people buying. It works well as a two day show.

Myself, I was very impressed with Paragon's new Cav and Apaches playset. While I didn't get the full playset (He was sold out fairly quickly), I did get the figures, and set them up with the rest of my TSSD Custer set as soon as I got home. In this economy, for someone to release two brand new figure sets at once is remarkable. Looking forward to future releases.

The new Alamo pieces from TSSD were very well done. Some removable interior pieces and roof pieces really make it customizable. Also the pictures of his upcoming casualty set look great! I'm glad that he's putting so much effort into a single theme.

Our table was right across from the Collector's Showcase table, and man, they look awesome! I don't collect metal, but they kept calling to me from across the aisle.... "come buy me... come buy me..." Glad my wife had hold of all the money.

Our Union Infantry (set #2) prototypes did arrive at the very end of the show on Saturday and we were able to show them off on Sunday. I sat down with our factory agent and went over the several tweaks and adjustments that had to be made, and sent them back on their way across the oceans. I didn't take any photos, but I know a few people did... they may show up somewhere on the net at some point. We also talked with our factory about lots of future options... factory painting, plug in heads, reverse colors, keeping the figures from warping, short run character figures, and a variety of other topics. Very cool stuff.

I could go on and on about the show, but I won't. Overall, I had an excellent time and we plan on being there again next year.

Pictures Please, Gentlemen.
Also, more reports from the Texas Show.

Here's a picture album I put together of the show. I didn't get around to every table, and I'll admit, I'm partial to plastic.

Hopefully that link will get you there.
