hi all, i came across this interesting bit on Facebook from The Soldier's Story (Singapore) -

An announcement to all fans. A very rare and special set of King and Country. A promotional piece for dealers only. The Landing Craft Mechanized (LCM) used for the invasion during D-Day. It's bigger then the normal Higgin Boats, big enough to take a tank. Take a look at the picture. Only 90 sets worldwide. Code is PM03. All dealers are not suppose to sell them however they didnt say anything about a lucky draw give away for the The Soldier's Story store members!!! X'mas is round the corner anyways. :) Come to the store, and it will be on display soon.

well done Mike (snappyD)! :)

Nasikasmani mate,
Code amendment to your last post. Code is PM-024 Landing Craft Mechanized (LCM).
PM-023 was 2010 Chicago Dinner Free Gift (WW1 British Soldier) and PM-022 was 2010 West Coaster Dinner Free Gift (British Sailor at Attention).
PM-003 was released in 2003 and was the Napoleon Bookmark.
All other PM releases available on request.
Cheers Howard

Hi guys,
the quote PM03 is for The Soldier's Story shop members if they want to view the promotional item. Anyways will stop using PM as a store code to avoid confusion.
Its known as Landing Craft Mechanized LCM3.
Thanks :)
Mike

I've been drooling over this since I saw it in the dio at the West Coaster. It's a shame that it will only be for dealers, although to be honest I'm not sure if I'd have room for it. Maybe Andy will do a larger run with different markings, like with the first landing craft and the Hurricane? Great piece, regardless. Thanks for finding this, guys.

Why not release it as a 250 series or start another 150 series or ask for pre-orders to find who wants one so collectors get it??? Is that not what it is all about???
Mitch

I with Mitch on this one, I have really wanted one of these for ages so to find out its not goner be offered for sale is a real bummer! surly a pre-order approach would work out well for both us the people who want one & for K&C as they will make sales & not have any left on there hands?

Craig

Absolutely should be available to all collectors............
Limited edition or "pre-order" is fine but certainly there are many collectors who would enjoy this piece.:confused:

Guys

the reason this has NOT been released as a collectors item is that it is not up to the standard that K&C want. When we received ours i thought it was good on closer inspection there are some areas that done work and also some parts that are way below that expected by K&C. So on first inspection OK but i have to agree with HK that it is not up to it.

However i would like to think that it will be by demand be done at some stage in the future as it is 80% OK and wont take much tweaking

We are using our UK allocation for a prize give away to be announced, to our Members.

Tony

I'll be interested to see if this is ever released to the mass market. Its so huge! I'll bet it would be expensive due to its sheer size as well. Brings up the twin problems of affordability and size ( where will I put it without my shelf crashing down!). It would be kind of a K&C shock & awe. :D Despite all that its a neat piece and would be hard for D-Day collectors to resist. Question....did British and Canadian forces use these types of craft?

8. PM03 LCM03
We actually produced 200… rejected about half and decided to use the remainder as a sales promotional tool for dealers.

And that my friends is that… hope you get a few answers plus a little bit of a “tease” for the coming months and year.

All the best and… happy collecting!
Andy C.

I just hope that when the time comes to produce the LCM3 to collectors. it will have 2 50. cal MG mounted on both sides of the pilot house...simiolar to Conte's (BTW the Conte LCM3 ramp open an closes with a pulley mechanism imbeded on the side walls.

Noli-Poli mate,
Ramp on LCM3 (PM-024) does go up and down on an internal pulley system.
Only the helmsman comes with the boat but the base plates are there for the possible mounting of the .50 cal MGs. Maybe the 50s and two gunners were not made after Andy decided not to go ahead with production.
Cheers Howard:cool:

Hi Guys,

Re Noli Poli’s suggestion that if and when K&C produce another LCM it will have 2x .50 cal. machine guns on either side of the pilot house…

We’ll have to wait and see… Two MG’s plus 2x full-body gunners would add at least 80 or 90 bucks (U.S.) to the cost of the finished boat. I’ve seen plenty of pix where the MG’s were not mounted. As for ramp opening and closing I agree… that’s a “must”!

Best wishes and happy sailing!

Andy C.

Thanks Howard.

As Andy said in an earlier response, adding the 2 gunners will add $80-$90 to the cost. Maybe Andy will still make the 2 gunners as a separate set or option that can be mounted on the existing base plate

Conte's LCM3 (1/32) cost $300 when marketed 3 years ago and it quickly sold out.

A 1/30 scale King & Country version will be well worth it at that price.
