Polish Winged Hussars (4 Viewers)

Legendary Polish Winged Hussars... Many victories in XVI and XVII century, not only well known battle of Viena 1683, but for exampe:
- Cutrea de Argesz 1600, 1450 soldiers (in this 950 hussars) defeated Italish army of 7000 soldiers
- Kircholm 1605, 3750 soldiers (in this 1750 hussars) defeated Swedish army of 12300 soldiers
- Koluszyn 1610, 6800 soldiers (in this 5556 hussars) defeated Russian army of 35000 soldiers
- Chocim 1621, 640 soldiers (in this 560 hussars) defeated Turkish army of 10000 man.
- ....
Ok this is not historical forum and I'm not historian, so please forgive me.

Is anybody here collecting them?
I have quite nice collection in 54mm, more then 25 different figures, most of them painted in St. Petersburg, a few painted by me. I can make photos of them and post here if any interest.

I start below from Ages studio figures. They are maybe not the highest quality, not comparable with e.g. Arsenyev, but big advatage is: they are available to buy at any moment, and the prices are quite reasonable.
Drummer is from Müritz Miniaturen painted by me, Trumpeter is conversion of this figure also painted by me.

I have a single Winged Hussar from Grenada Studios (#3146 or G146) that I purchased many years ago. It is a gorgeous charging, lance down figure. Can no longer afford figures in this price point but I am glad I have this one.^&cool -- Al

The Day of the Siege: September Eleven 1683. I haven't watched
it yet, but will have to now.

I also have this one and 2 others. I will post photos.
While other companies make only single figures, Grenada made great set of Polish Winged Hussars and Janissaries, having them man could make great diorama.
That’s a pity that these figures or at least kits are not available.

I believe that First Legion is going to release Polish Winged Hussars.
This is not confirmed by anybody, but they put 2 arts with winged hussars on theirs (other) figures boxes, what can be some way of announcing future releases.

What do you mean "your albums"?
Figures are available at http://www.ages-collection.ru/ , they accept paypal, just don't forget to change prices to EUR on the top. Figures are in lower and higher quality/price, check also Compositions/Sets - you can get 4 hussars for 480 EUR total, what is definitely not possible in any other Russian studio. Post me PM if any questions or problems with buying, I have some experience with them.

This movie is in fact Italian (although some Polish actors involved), and it was not very successful production... It is nice to see battle scenes, but don't expect much from scenario and dialogs...
I don't want to stop you from watching it, just better to not expect too much to not be disappointed...
Actually it reminds me the Gods and Generals, which would be great if not the long pathetic speeches (sorry if sbdy don't agree with me, I have seen this movie long time ago and can be wrong)

Thanks for posting. I see hussars are in fact the same figures what my from Ages, but on another horses and painted differently.

I had no time yet to make new photos but let me show you first my old diorama Beresteczko 1651.
And apologies here, all figures (except 6 from Ages studio) are painted by me, so it is not high quality.

A few words for these who asked about history of Poland and Eastern Europe.
In XVI-XVIII centuries Poland and Lithuania created one country - Republic with parlament etc.
In best period the Republic was covering area of today Poland, Lithuania, Bialarus, Ukrain and partly other countries, and was biggest country in Europe.
However, it was ruled by Polish and Lithuanian elites, with not equal rights for other nations, and don't think about any democracy in that times...
Beresteczko is town in Ukrain, where in 1651, during Cossacks insurgency leaded by Bogdan Chmielnicki, took place three-day battle, one of the biggest battles in XVII century.
Polish forces leaded by Polish King Jan II Kazimierz Waza (in person on battlefield) were counting 34.000 soldiers of all formations (including 2600 hussars).
Agains them stood 80.000-100.000 Ukrainian Cossacks and allyied with them 30.000 Tatars.
Don't ask who won... Polish forces of cource, Cossacks and Tatars managed to run away from the battle field.

10 days later Cossacks were finally and pernamently defeated in marshes of river Plaszowka (no way to escape this time). I tryied to put some water holes on diorama to imagine that.
