Here is a photo of my Grandfather John who took basic training at Fort Dix, N.J. After graduating basic training he remained there and was a TC ....... "Training Corporal" helping to get troops ready for the Invasion of France. They never called it "D-Day" but again the "Invasion Of France" He landed at Normandy D-Day +1 and made his way through Europe till a few months after the wars end, just over 18 months. He lived till he turned 74 years old.

Gents,

Great thread!!! Here is a pic of Private Matilde Rodriguez USAAF, 1943. My mom's Dad and my Grandfather. He was apart of the Bomber Unit here at Kelly Field in San Antonio. I believe he was a cook, but I have other shots of him that say different...don't know...he died after he returned from cancer. So, know one in the family really knows what he did. He did not speak of it. Anyway, they deployed to the Pacific and I got his medals and flag. His flag is made out of clothe and has 48 stars! Check out the swagger.

Here's a photo of my grandfather and my mom upon his return from the war in Europe. He was a Captain in Patton's 3rd Army. Also, an article about my grandfather (where my name comes from) and his encounter with General Patton in an old news article by Loran Smith.

Grandpa Julius Lang - 1st generation servingg his country in China during WWII (Army Intelligence). After the war he joined the FBI narcotics division. When he showed up home, beaten to a pulp, Grandma Lang said enough of this BS and he opened a pharmacy in Long Island!
