Not far from Mark Antony's Campsite, these Praetorian Guards comb the woodland making sure that the area remains safe.

Great scenics but this could be Marcus Aurelius in Germania. In Antony's time frame there was no Praetorian Guard or plate armor. I know I am picky but just saw
"Gladiator" for the 10th time and love the opening scene of the Roman army battling the German tribes.

These are striking and menacing. ^&cool , Robin.
Nice figures by TG, Robin.

Thanks for the comments.
You may be correct re. the plate armor, but from what I've read, I believe Antony had Praetorians.

You may be correct re. the plate armor, but from what I've read, I believe Antony had Praetorians.

They were started by Augustus after Antony died. I have heard that there may have been something that predates thenPraetorians. Special cohorts, but I don’t know how accurate that is.

Unlikely they would look anything like that, though. Maybe under Tiberius and Sejanus as there Prefect, but that’s a long way off.

The real intent of my post is to show off TG's Praetorian Guard as I've pictured. The reason I don't generally bother debating history on the forum (even if I've read something completely different in the case of this discussion) is that the simple mention of a historic person can completely move the topic off the dio/scene.

I respect those of you who want to debate history, but must admit that it takes the whole fun out of collecting and posting pictures of one's figures. In any case, I would hope that you could appreciate the scene and perhaps a 'like' would be more beneficial, at least in my humble opinion.

So for the sake of you history buffs, let's try this:

Not far from (remove) Mark Antony's (and replace with) Name of Any Ancient Roman Leader Who You Believe had Praetorian Guards Campsite, these Praetorian Guards comb the woodland making sure that the area remains safe.

Better? :rolleyes2:
