Ongoing bids, while not final, look really "sick" for retired armour now offered on ebay .

Way below "retired" values six months ago.

Economy "catching" up to saturated market with a lot of reseller "longs" trying to dump.

In a relatively small market when lots of folks dump products either because of economic need or to buy new releases the market is saturated and prices fall.

Think of it like the stock market. The values will fluctuate; hang on to your pieces for now. As the economy turns around, and the supply decreases, their value will return.

I completely agree. As a new K&C collector, there is a huge amount of retired items on ebay at this time... all of which I want!

The bottom dropped out of the "retired" beanie baby scheme too

Beanie babies were a fad. Quality toy soldiers are not. Besides...beanie babies are god-awful.

Just like Who Dat, TRUE DAT! Seriously, toy soldiers have been around for 150 plus years or more.

Prices will always fluctuate in an auction format, all depends on who's buying, whos selling.

What! I have "Tiny" the Chihuahua in my car and in my flight bag. I am not afraid to admit I love my beanie dog! By the way they are still mint with the tags on and protected in true collector fashion.

Let's not talk about those bleepety bleep beanie babies. I have more than I want to think about. All except for one or two are boxed away. The one I did like was Baldy, because of the American Bald Eagle.

Jackson my man...

That may be true but the sets I have sold recently in the process of refining my collection did extremely well! Since there is no rush to sell the others that I have there is no reason to lower the price and "dump" them. Time is on my side. Worst case scenario, I display them and enjoy them which is great in my book.

My kids and wife went through the beanie babies fad. My daughter actually sold some sort of purple bear for something like $300 several years ago. The only trace of them around the house, now, is an off-shoot called "Splat the Cat". He is a road-kill cat with tire tracks across him.:p I much prefer TS. -- lancer

Brad...

Since we are coming clean on the Beanie issue, I will admit that I have "Baldy" too. I also have the Iditarod Husky, "Nanook", a Pilot Bear and the "Princess" Bear since I was in Paris then England on the day she died which is another story in itself! By the way, Ty Warner owns have of Santa Barbara, California especially in the Montecito area. Every time I visit my parents there, I am reminded where the Beanie Baby $$$ went.

Marc,

We easily have a hundred of them buried away, many purchased in the anticipation of making some money some day. Shows the folly of trying to make money on what should be a hobby.

I am sorry but with the solid laugh you have given me I am getting a great abdominal workout which is also irritating my sore body which sums up my Beanie Bay experience via the double edge sword phenomena. You might have to put the Beanies in a time capsule. I still remember people fighting in line to gets these things.

Thanks For The Memories,
Marc

I collected the Grateful Dead Bears, and tell the truth, I did pretty good on the way out!
