Just been looking at the K&C M7 Priests , both of which I want at some point in the not too distant, and just noticed that the new Desert version is seven quid cheaper than the Normandy. Now we here on this little old forum type thingy are often calling for a halt to rising prices etc, so just thought I'd give a shout out for this price drop, seven pounds cheaper is not a huge amount but its certainly going in the right direction ^&cool:smile2:

Not to burst your bubble but that's a K & C UK thing, perhaps something to do with currency exchange and import costs, as in the US they're the same price, $225.

Ah, oh well :)

Maybe I should have said burst my bubble since you guys are getting a break! :D

$15 to $20 less expensive is a step in the right direction. Going to need the extra to add some sand shields though. {sm4}

Rob you darn Brits get all the gravy while us poor US guys get the bone again.:p^&grin;)

Not so {sm2} We can buy them for $225. They are selling in England for GBP 221 which is $345. Their import duties are very high.

I STAND CORRECTED ON MY LITTLE JOKE TO ROB.Hey Rob would you like me to pass you a little gravy you can use with your bone?Mike B^&grin;)^&grin

Wonder if it's cheaper (after VAT is imposed) to purchase the set from a US dealer.

$225 plus 17% VAT of $38 plus $25 slow shipping totals $288 which equals GBP 185. That's somewhat less than the GBP 221 price including VAT in England - but aren't there import duties as well?

If this calculation upsets anyone, don't blame me - blame Jazzeum. I was only following orders. {sm4}

Buying from the US, dealers or Ebay, used to provide savings over the UK prices but no longer. In the last few year her Majesty's Revenue and Customs are particularly stringent over imposition of custom duties which more than cancel out, by a factor of magnitude, any potential saving.

Graycap,

Are the customs duties VAT or is VAT something different and, if so, is that also imposed?

What about buying from European dealers?

Brad

I thought the 14% VAT in Germany was bad. {eek3} I certainly hope you Gents in the Isles get more gravey coming to you.

gov't needs more taxes to pay for more flu vacine for the swine flu that never showed up

Funny you say that my friend, I was just saying to my wife yesterday that one minute we were all
going to perish and now you don't hear a word about it ! I'm sure by the end of the week there will
be headlines screaming ' Christmas Tree Flu Hits Britain, we're all doomed' ! :wink2::rolleyes2:

VAT and customs duties are separate. I suppose the nearest US eqivalent would be the individual state taxes. If I buy something from the US I won't pay VAT as that is only applied to domestic purchases, but I will be liable for customs charges which are calculated on the value of the item declared in the attached customs documents. What with all this, plus rising labour costs in China, it looks as if prices will continue their steady upwards trend during the coming months.

How does VAT compare to Customs Duties.

Terry

That is the reason why I stopped buying in the US. Custom taxes and transport fees make it very expensive . I now limit my purchases to the Continent and in Euro's ( VAT is already included in the published prices and no custom taxes and less transport costs..) Also goods coming from Canada are free of custom charges here in Belgium.
guy:)
