Prices for NEW Tunisian Tiger I and Panzer IV TankK & C? (1 Viewer)

A simple question?
Are things BETTER in China than 10 years ago? 20 years ago? 50 years ago? of course, but it's never good enough for some, they live on the negative side of life ands all things are judged in negative terms.
I suggest that those that are so outraged boycott all chinese merchandise, see how your life changes, have the courage of your convictions, back the talk by doing the walk.
Great things are happening in China and will continue to happen, but there never has and will never be a Utopia on earth, because human beings are flawed period.

Go to China and see for yourself instead of believing everything that people with their own agendas publish.

I doubt the Chinese government gives tours. How about you ask for me? Tell them you are concerned about working conditions, human rights violations, freedom of speech and religion. That should get you in the door.

I get in the door anyway - even though (believe it or not) I am in fact concerned about working conditions, human rights violations, freedom of speech and religion. All I will say is that in my experience, American companies that I've seen treat their local employees in exactly the same manner as their Caucasian employees - in fact Chinese, Korean and Thai employees receive certain benefits that I don't get.
Look, I'm not claiming that sweatshops don't exist - we all know they do. But things are changing in China. Those with a reasonable education and lucky enough to be employed by a western company are reaping the benefits and the middle class Chinese are increasing at a prodigious rate. IMO they deserve to get the opportunity. Maybe (hopefully) in 10~20 years from now, the average citizen will have the same standard of living as western people expect. But you must understand that China, and every other Asian country I've ever been to, is a deeply conservative country. Change is slow - but its definitely an ongoing process.

Alright fellas- AT EASE!!

I get really sad when I see any form of negative discussion here on the best forum on earth- I get doubly sad when I see some of my favorite people on the forum- Combat and Harry start going at each other. We are all better than that- especially you guys.

I think this thread has long since run its course and is really disrupting the mojo of the KC part of the forum. Good, Bad or Indifferent, we cannot collectively affect the outcomes of these geopolitical variables- we gotta live with them.

I believe Mr. Neilson has addressed the initial points made on the thread. Shall we move on and reform around another thread- say the WW1 or perhaps something in the Diorama section?? This kind of negative gridlock is just not good for any of us :(:(

Make love, not war- my favorite anthem!!,

Woah, WOAH, Bettsy. Me and Combat are only having an exchange of viewpoints. No-one is declaring WWIII. I have 1st hand experience of Asian country's, Combat by his own admission doesn't. That's not to say that I'm 100% correct and he's not - or vice versa. I actually find Combats posts on this topic extremely interesting, while disagreeing with some of his points, as I'm sure he disagrees with some of mine. That's okay, its a reasonable discussion between two individuals with slightly different points of view. Nuthin wrong with that Chris.
Cheers

Ok. I am very late to the party here but it seems like, after reading these posts that things are getting a bit sharp between you guys.

Take care,

I agree. Actually prefer to hear contrary points of view as that is the only way to learn anything new. Kudos to Chris though for his good intentions.

... I have no idea about the working conditions at KC or other toy solider manufacturer factories in that country ...
I have not visited K&C and Frontline's factories (they use more than one), but I have personally toured Figarti Miniatures' old factory and their new one. While I agree the conditions described in Combat's post exist in China, I can state from personal observation that the working conditions of the Figarti factory are very good and nothing like the examples listed. For example, Figarti painters have ergonomic chairs and individual exhaust fans for paint fumes at their stations. They have an employee lounge with leather sofas and a flat screen TV. Forum members can see a video of the new factory that Rick showed at the Chicago Show in the segment "Figarti Lunch Film2" on the KCUK TV link above. Of course, this is only one factory in China, but forum members can buy Figarti products without worrying about poor working conditions.:)

I wont comment on the economic side of China - but as someone who is very informed on the National Security Threat China poses to the United States ( former Policy Director of the House Armed Services Committee) and our interests in the East - China is the Dragon we will have to deal with one day. Most likely - one day soon.

But - until then - I will certainly enjoy my cheap toys :D

I've been to China just a couple of times , and its a powerhouse, 1/4 of the worlds population working well together and building more than toys!

They are very sensitive about a few words begining with T though, hope H can still get the site when he gets back home:D

Hi Guys,

It’s more than a wee bit ironic that the leader of the “I want it ALL and I want it NOW!” brigade is now complaining about rising prices.

No one (including me) likes to raise prices but as costs are continually rising what are we to do? At the same time collectors’ justifiable wishes for improved quality...more detail...more variety all comes at a higher price.

Factor in, as I’ve written several times before, higher labour costs...more expensive raw materials...and transportation hikes and...hey presto...higher prices!

Now let me address some of Combat’s concerns about China in general...

1) US jobs going to China...This is definitely true and why? Because U.S. companies cannot afford U.S. labour costs. If you think, Combat, your prices are high just now get everything made in the U.S.A. by U.S. workers and your costs will go through the roof! US consumers love low prices and China supplies that.

2) China is a communist country...

In name only...this place is the most capitalist in the world! Fortunes are being made and lost (not by me) every day. If you were actually here you could see it with your own two eyes.

3) Slave-like working conditions...

I cannot speak for everyone but I would assert that virtually every toy soldier company who is producing in China is using factories and workshops that are far from slave-like. They may not be up to U.S. standards but everything is relative.

Most workers I have seen during hundreds of visits over the last 15 years are happy to work in light, spacious conditions for 8-10 hours a day, 5 1/2 days a week, get 3 square meals a day plus accommodation provided free by the factory. Compare that to working as a peasant 16 hours a day in the fields for virtually nothing doing back-breaking labour...

There is a labour shortage because as more factories open up more skilled (not unskilled) workers are required. There is no shortage of unskilled only skilled.

So, Combat, sorry you have to pay a little more for your hobby but console yourself with the fact that had all of your toy soldiers (and a lot more besides) been manufactured in the States you would not be able to afford them at all!

Best wishes to one and all and...happy collecting!

Andy C.

The Truth hurts.....

Speaking for myself i don't have a problem with K&C prices. When it comes down to it you get what you pay for,and with K&C you get real quality, time after time.

Now then, would that be the same National Security Threat that Sadaam posed with his non-existant WOMD...??? Wow, wasn't the former Policy Director of the House Armed Services Committee particularly well informed on that one.
:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:
