I ditched some of the other manufactures in order to dedicate my collecting FL full time. But i looked at the pre-order prices for the sitting WWII Germans ($114.95) for two figures?? I don't understand that. Also, judging from the pictures, it seems there hasn't been any improvement on the faces.. I might have to seriously start thinking of quitting collecting if the increases in industry persist. Any else have thoughts on these issues?

I collect the Naps and AWI
I stayed away from WW2 because of the same faces
I'm a big AK fan, same there with their faces
So i'm saving money, saved by the faces
it must be a different sculptor for WW2
and probably uses same head for everybody
which is not the case for Naps and AWI
This is only my opinion, i know lots of guys love their WW2
Happy collecting boys

I know this sounds obvious, but I think it works. If you like the product and can afford it then get it, but I never get in debt for anything I buy, I almost always pay it off straight away. I've also found over the years that I see a new release and think that its not for me and I'll let it go, but then it grows on me over months and even years until I must have it. Why don't you see if you still want these things in a few weeks time, I don't collect FL so I can't get into the faces debate, all I know is I have to be sure of everything I buy, that way I rarely regret it.

yeah 115$ that'a lot of dough..

But you have other choices out there if you want to collect Fl figures.

If you would like to try Naps, buy one of the mounted british dragoons for 120$ or the samurai archer.. Simply unbelievable for under 80$

Those guys are superb and are really affordable.

As with any products on the market, some will 'call' you more than others..

I don't need to have it all. I choose whatever figure I 'need' to own.

If I don't have the money, I won't buy.. This is part of my disposable income..
So it's not in any way interfering with whatever else I 'have' to pay for .. food, house, car, travel, etc.

Cheers,

Alex

Do painters make so much money these days? Or is paper hanger better?

The development of prices is certainly worrisome, but the US Dollar is not doing so well and a lot of Matt's cost I believe are in other currencies than dollar. We hence have no one else to blame but ourselves by not running the US economy more profitably than we do, but rely on other nations to inject money into it.

Beyond that, the real test is of course the "clearing price" - when do collectors stop buying product? I suspect Thor Johnson after decades in this hobby probably has a view on this. I still admire how many 54cm models he is selling above a 400$ price point.

I buy what I like from First Legion and am very comfortable with it. It might take me a little longer than in the past to put a full unit together, but as Matt does not retire models early, I can collect at my own timeline.

Good advice. So far FL has not played the early retirement game to keep the collector in a constant state of panic buying. Given the slow output of FL & near constant availability, I don't see a problem for anyone being a FL-only collector.

At the end of the day, you have a museum grade collection & time to read a book about the figs you are collecting & contemplate a diorama.

true but thor is going into the cheaper marco polo line for a reason.nikki says they will have a good supply of these figures for the otsn show in sept.by the way hi neighbor.

I think that is an issue for many of us now. Just have to be more selective at a time when there are so many great products. Very tough. You can either go for depth or buy a few from the ranges you like most.

Well if you know how business and entrepenuers work this is very simple.
Matt took a large risk and spent a lot of time and capital and stress on a start up venture. He has built a steady clientele base and now it is time for him to reap the rewards of all his hard work. It is capitalism at it's finest, now if you want more, you'll have to pay more...:)

Look at it this way, you have time to put some money aside each month to make some purchases, First Legion has alot going on, and they are doing each line at a correct pace, giving the collector time to decide what they want next without feeling overwelmed, at least for me anyway, as far as the WWII faces, sorry guys I just don't see what your seeing, if anything I think the facial exspressions/sculpts are some of the best out there, but then again we all see differently through our own eyes so I guess I do understand where you coming from...Sammy

Daruss,
I think you should sell me what you got First Legion wise and stop collecting First Legion period . I'm dead serious , I'll send you a check, M/O or whatever you like :wink2:as early as you can box em up . If you think that ($114.95) for those two figures is too expensive you are obviously collecting the wrong brand . I'm willing to help you out my friend... send me a picture of what you got . You really can't ask for more then that . Regards Gebhard

Excellent Post....Well said....Those tactics are not necessary when your putting out a quality product.

Maybe i could be convinced to keep collecting if FL decides to do some "Face" changes on the WWII line.. I just wish there was some kind of advance notice about (2) figures going to cost $115,, Because most of the singles are around $50..
Wanna see some bad a*s axis miniatures on the Russian Front, then go this site

I think you should just sell what you have to Gebhard:wink2:.....Post#14...He's already made you an offer you can't refuse{eek3}

Do you have any British or French FL Napoleonics you would like to sell?
