Hey dudes:

Check this out. These are photos from a dudes private collection in Saratoga CA which is about 30 minutes away from San Jose. This dude has over 10,000 ACW toy soldiers in 54mm. There is a whole assortment of brands and a large majority of the soldiers have had their heads/arms/bodies mixed and match or replaced in order to make custom soldiers. The best part though was the collection of ACW artifacts including musketballs, spent shells, money, documents and even a bill of sale for a slave. It was sweet to check out and very much like going to a museum.

Great Collection! It might be a good idea to download some of the photos to show the wives next time you need a little more room for goodies!

You could tell her you have a new idea for the living room!

It might get you a larger den...........or a note from a lawyer!

wow some collection, like the ship and the sailors by the wharf, the layouts are excellent, like the stone walls, and he even has a railroad scene..his partner is either big into soldiers or made an ultimatum at some time in the past ..its me or the toy soldiers:D:D:D

Amazing collection of figures and historical artifacts -- thanks for posting the photos.

Thanks Chris for posting that.
It is a great collection. It certainly pays to focus your efforts.
Pick a theme and stay with it.
But there are so many temptations around

Wow, great photos, thanks for posting. What an amazing collection. Is it open to the public regularly and if so how do you find it?

Interestingly, some of the guns appear to be reproductions but still impressive. The saddle actually appears to be modern from the angle shown.

That is an amazing collection, but even more amazing is the presentation.

Thanks for sharing the photos with us, prost!

A stunning collection and hard to believe it is a private one
Beautiful!

My collection is just a tad bigger:D Just Kiddin this is one of the best Civil War collections I have ever seen. Thanks for sharing the photos.

I love the pictures of the ships and sailors. You don't see them too often. And how about the baseball game,I've never seen that before, perhaps he had that specially made. This guy may have UKReb beaten but not in docudiorama.UKReb the king of ACW in that department.

He's not all Johnny Reb and Billy Yank this collector. I see a Union Jack and some knights etc in one of the cabinets

UK Reb has to see this

Thanks Damian for the heads up-but come on afterall this guy has only got 8500 figures more than me:eek::eek:

This is one guy I personally could spend weeks talking to. Man that has to be the greatest and largest private ACW collection of figures and artefacts I have ever seen- bar none.

From Chris's great photos the guy appears to be a little pro-Union, pictures of Grant and Chamberlain prominently displayed plus the famous poster of "Our Union Defenders" (I also have that one) but hell I wouldn't hold that against him.

Thanks for posting Chris and next year I am West visiting the Vamp I just gotta head Saratoga way- Was it a one time open day or can the public visit by prior arrangement?

What this post has done guys is given me faith that there are very serious and avid ACW toy soldier collectors out there after all. I was beginning to doubt the reports that I read every month in our TS magazines when dealers are asked "What is your best selling era" reply "Oh! without a doubt ACW" or "The Civil War is and remains our hottest seller" etc. etc. month in month out I read this and normally shout to myself Yeah! Yeah! but where the hell are they????.
Well with this guy that's perfectly true- just a shame for the Reb that he and a few other of those avid collectors are not here on TF. Oh! man what a war we could have.:confused::mad:
