I realised that I have a lot of horse parts and rejects. And then there were these leftover pith helmeted heads from Omdurman. So I decided to start another project with these. Crazy right? So here's the start already.

Hi John, this one is right up your alley.. hahaha.

I think you might be right and that Victor is going to recreate a famous painting of an action in the 2nd Boer War of an Artillery Team
Steve,

Does that painting depict when Lord Roberts' son got killed trying to rescue the guns from Boer commandos?

Guns and gunners, and their drivers, I'm looking forward to seeing the limber and gun and your rigging of the horses for all that now, that will be a challenge !!!!!

Howdy Gents,

Seems to be a wish fulfilment exercise going on here. And I was building up a Mongol horde….hahaha.

Oh well, I must defer to the overall decision here.

Assuming that this is an artillery scene from around the time of the Boer war, anyone has any clear pics of the rigging and
Saddlery of the horses, ridden and driven, horse collar? I hv numerous books on horse saddles, bits, coaches (you name it) but nothing on the traces and limber of this period. I hv info on the napoleonic and Great War though. Any help would be gratefully accepted.

Hi Louis,

Good guess but no seegar. I did contemplate doing the Guns at Maiwand ptg by Caton Woodville but as I had just recently done his Omdurman, I selected another ptg.
But thank you for suggesting this ptg. In looking at it, I can see clear details on horse traces, collars and saddlery which would help me greatly on to the next stage.

I'll see what i have here Victor and email them to you, I've assembled Hincliffe gun teams from Napoleonic and great War eras, so can provide images like these:
