Hi Grey

thx for yr nice comment. My father’s name was Vincent. So I liked that.

More figs being sculpted. The Historex bits add detail interests to the figs.

rgds Victor

Oh dear Victor, I'm sorry I called you Vincent. I do like the latest work on this project.

Cheers,
Grey

Hi Grey and John

more figs being recruited, mostly Brit but one Fr trooper to the extreme right. After this, more smaller figs will be added.

More development on these figs. Ive started to mount the Br officer on a base

I created a more elaborate base for staging the figures. This is getting interesting for me as the base will blend in with the bkgd. So a lot of planning and frustration ahead.

Built up the base even more. I’ve started to stage the other figures on the base, using wire inserts.

Trying to get a compact and frenzied action on this base to leave as much space for the rest of the diorama

Oh good,

I'm going to see you making one of Bonaparte's 'Lovely Daughters' ....

a Gribeauval Cannon :) :)

Keep it coming ...

John

Hi John

Gribeauval indeed. As this is a fortress , I presume that a largish gun would be indicative. Perhaps a 12 pdr at least. Mine seems to be a smaller gauge? At least when cf to the 1/30 Historex based figures around it. Anyway, this model gun that I have is of unknown Russian make, bought over 30 years ago and the carriage doesn’t even look right. But it seems to fit the ptg in both size and type.

I added more height to the main base. I’ve place it within the dimensions of the shadowbox frame

So far this project is my main focus for now. I created a bkgd shell to test the placement of the main base within the scene. The template frame helps to finalise the placement. I’ve also reshaped the gun carriage as per the ptg.

I ptd the scene in acrylics to visualise it. Looks promising ,huh?

Hi Scott,

amazing coincidence that I was modelling this piece without realising it. Can’t escape this eyrie of Hawkeyed eagles lurking on this website. Hahahaa.

Anyway, trying to capture the strange visual perspectives of this picture. Tricky to pull off. Need a lot of luck.

Rgds Victor.

Btw. I am also basing my work on the actual black white drawing by Richard Caton Woodville. This has more details than the colourised version. The ptg has some anomalies. The British troops are wearing the Belgic shako which was issued much later. Badajoz was an early morning assault and the colourised version is too bright. Anyway I really like this illustration so am sticking as close to it as possible.

More progress over the weekend.
Spent time to spruce up the gun. Built up more of the groundwork. Added some poles to represent the climbing ladders. completing more of the bkgd details.

The project is looking good Victor. Nice to see some additional detail on the cannon. Thanks for sharing.

Cheers,
Grey

Having finished the bison hunting scene, I immediately switched over to the other projects incl this one. So more work on developing the figs.
