My figures get used in outdoor photo shoots allot so they get handled and exposed to hot and cold weather and occasionally dry ice vapors. I have noticed some flaking off of paint on some of the figures more than others. The flakes expose the white undercoat so I have two questions for the forum today. What type of paint does K&C use, acrylics, oil, or enamels and is there any spray on protective overcoat that can safely be used on a figure to protect it. I do realize that using such a product would probably lower the value of my figures as being altered but I view my collection more as having an acting guild or modeling agency available at a moment’s notice for realistic photos, as both the paint jobs and the pose of the figures really work in outdoor settings.

Cheers

My advice is to use Vallejo paints which fall under the banner also of Panzer aces and model colour. These are excellent paints and easy to use. If you wish to seal them any good matt varnish will work. Would not worry about touch ups and similar done well they won't be noticeable and won't affect the value

You mentioned "good matt varnish" - any recommended brand and code no. ?

I have used Vallejo, Tamiya and humbrol/revell and all seem fine. I don't have product codes but, any of these should be fine though I use Vallejo mostly for my own work and all should be readily available from any model shop
Hope it helps
