Well, once again, very proud father, my son Logan's 2018 History Day Documentary won 1st place at the County Level this year (last year Winston Churchill placed as a runner up), so he has exceeded last year's mark! Now on to the State Competition in late April. Anyhow, for those who have any interest, this year he did a documentary on the Korean War.

Side note - I still thought he was robbed last year!!! Not biased of course.

Hi, Tom, that's great! Please pass along my congratulations to your son.

About the link-I'm getting an error when I try to follow it (browser can't resolve the URL, so it can't find YouTube). I found his video, and it looks like the URL should have the period between "tu" and "be":

That one works and takes me right to YouTube and the video.

Prost!

You have every reason to be proud! Your son did a great job!:salute::

Thanks to all, I am wishing him the best at the States in late April. It is rewarding for me that he has taken an interest in history. His 98 year old Great Granddad (just this past Sunday) is a WW2 Vet from the Pacific, my late father prior to getting a Doctorate in Education was a History Major and of course I love history, so this is even more special to me.

Hi,
if you are referring to today's education system, honestly, there isn't a teacher who teaches US history, they all avoid just about every conflict due to PC issues. It is honestly disappointing and a joke, I can say that my son is "self" taught in that he has learned from his own reading and I forgot to mention earlier, my StepDad who is a big history buff also has been a mentor for him. Today's "teachers" unfortunately are handcuffed by a terrible system. They are afraid to mention most subjects. Even Thomas Jefferson is off limits for discussion.

Absolutly correct in every way and then some ,,unfortunately partially true in the past,,my first elective and first objection in school,,when "modern world history' ended in who discovered peru in 1501,,then an entire day or two to cover the next hundreds of years,,Hopefully your lad comes here also,,

Quick update , he made it to the top 8 in the State of Maryland, but unfortunately didn't make it to the top 2. SO, he did very well, very proud and I think he thought it was worth the effort. He certainly chose a timely topic and one that continues to evolve!

HA HA! Sorry to laugh, PC is actually politically correct in the US, it is an unfortunate thought process in my opinion.
