Hello, thought I would share a picture of my BlackCat Prussian figures. The figures are assembled, cleaned and ready for priming. Hope you enjoy.

Very cool! What did you use to assemble them, eg, CA glue, any pinning? Were they easy or difficult or fiddly to assemble?

Prost!

I'm looking forward to more images of your painting, so keep them coming,

John

I only used glue to assemble the figures. They seem to hold well without pins. The castings needed a lot of cleaning so we'll see how they look with a couple light coats of primer.

I will post more pictures as I make progress.

I've done the Confederate kits and they turned out really nice. I'm looking forward to seeing your Prussians.

Here's a picture of the Prussians with base coat.

I'd like to know what you guys think of my chosen color scheme.

Overcoat - Humbrol 15 Midnight Blue
Trousers/Leggings - Humbrol 5 Dark Grey
Shoes/Cartridge Box - Humbrol 21 Black
Pack/Haversack/Straps - Humbrol 22 White with a touch of Humbrol 40 Pale Grey

Not 100% sure I like the Pack/Haversack/Straps color. Any opinions?

Hi buddy - You seem a bit iffy about white - me too with humbrol - it's very white!^&cool - need these?

Could try Ivory(41) gloss.

Firstly, I think (for me) - it covers better - and looks a little bit quieter, I think. I particularly like it with "older" figures too - suggesting a certain " antiquity" , perhaps.

Give it a try - and see what you think?

Like the figures too - good luck with 'em. johnnybach

Suggest you add a little yellow to the white to make a pale cream and paint the haversack and strap light buff to make a difference. Haversacks were usually canvas and the belts were whitened buffalo leather. The pale cream will look as though they haven't been blancoed for a couple of days. It is always a good idea to remember the material of the item you are painting. For example a Guard Grenadier has a mass of white on the front, lapels, crossbelts, waistcoat, trousers and gaiters. The lapels and trousers were of quite thick cloth so paint these light cream. The belts were blancoed so paint them dead white, as also the waistoat and gaiters which are of thinner material. The subtle differences in shades will enhance the figure. Trooper
