I have been researching and collecting images of WWI military hospitals and medical personnel to go along with my collection of figures representing this subject. In the process I came across this photograph of a British hospital showing the patients moved outdoors for health reasons accompanied by some of the nurses. It gave me the idea to create a similar subject utilizing medical figures from W. Britain's Premier Collection.

See the next post for other images I found related to my diorama.

Randy,

These are quite nice. I like your attempts at replicating the original photos and I'd say that you did a fine job in recreating each scene!!

Hi Randy

Great pics, funnily enough the new series of Downton Abbey on UK tv featured this very same subject this weekend, as the injured soldiers with nurses and medical orderlies moved into Downton Abbey.Great period show, highly recomended.

Regards John

Reminded me a bit of "Carry on Nurse" too...

Okay, there's Sid James - but where's Barbara Windsor???^&grin

I'll bet that's got a few Americans confused^&confuse:confused: jb

Just collecting hospital and first aid figures could be a hobby. These are particularly good. I understand that the blue suits were to replace their worn out damaged uniforms and to keep recovering soldiers who might be wearing civilian clothes on the street from being mistaken for "slackers."

Randy,

they are are wonderful images that you have posted, and so much like the real thing.

In my wife's grandfather's photo album he has photos from his time in the Byfleet Rehabilitation Hospital in 1916, where he recovered from his wounds gained on the Somme Offensive in July that year.

The only difference in uniform is that the diggers are wearing slouch hats, but have the same hospital uniform on.

Well done....

John

Thank you Mark, John (Firth), Johnny, Scott, and John O'Brien

I am a big fan of Downton Abbey. Series 2 will be shown here in early 2012. The poster shows one of the nurses.
