Fellow Collectors,

I have been considering catching up on some vehicles from 2-4 years back, for example 8th Army crusader tank, when did K&C start upsizing vehicles to the "true 1/30th scale"? I think it was one of the tigers maybe ws151(eastern front tiger I) or ws177(snow tiger). Anyone have the crusader or any older vehicles and find that they apear too small or is it much ado about nothing. Thanks for your opinions. Usually I get to a shop once a year(troops of time) so as to see things in the flesh but was unable to make it this year and am somewhat relying on public opinion.

That is a difficult question to answer. About 3 or 4 years ago, K&C started making the models in a fairly accurate 1:30 scale, up from 1:32 which was the previous size. The difference in scale is noticeable, especially if models of the same tank one each in 1:32 and 1:30 scales are placed side to side.

I'm pretty sure the Crusader is 1:30

I don't know if there is a distinct cutoff point as in all models before month/year are 1:32 and are 1:30 after or if there is a transition period where some are the old 1:32 and some are the current 1:30.

This would be a good question for someone from K&C to answer. If AFVs produced be for a certin date are 1:32 and after that date are 1:30 and if there is a transition period between 2 dates where the models could be in either scale.

Gday,
I have the crusader tank (and it is 1/30) and other 8th army vehicles and they all match up scale wise of course but I also have the WWI FW Mark1 tank although not displayed together when side by side with the crusader seems to the eye at least to be ok.(hope this helps).

Hi Armchair Warrior,

I can at least answer the Crusader portion of your question. It's 1/30 scale, and one of my favorite tanks by the way. The tank rider that comes with it is great figure.

No hard fast rule. It's best to ask about a particular model. I think the transition occurred after the success of the Honour Bound panthers.

Oh yeah...there are early generation tanks which were 1/30 or even larger. Not all the early stuff was small. The wooden tigers appear 1/30, as do some of the early resin & poly stone.

A couple examples of proper scale say Tigers are the Tunisian AK Tiger and the latest Snow Tiger.Compare these two to the Wittman Tiger and Winter Tiger and the difference in size is easily apparant, with the latter 2 mentioned being smaller. ^&cool

Thanks guys,

It does seem that the Tunisian Tiger was the first up-sized model so I think I am safe getting the Crusader. Thank you all for your helpful opinions.
