Sometime during 2019 was extremely fortunate in acquiring a Greenwood & Ball figure in near mint condition. The figure was of a Risaldar-Major of the 29thLancers (Deccan Horse), British Indian Army. See image below. Decades earlier had been outbid on another Greenwood & Ball of a British Indian officer of the 30th Lancers (Gordon’s Horse). My request is of any member of the forum, that if you happen to have another figure of the 30th Lancers, might you be so kind as to photograph same, in order that I can reconfirm through John Greenwood’s research and execution of the figure, that their uniforms are identical. I have the classic definitive reference,THE ARMIES OF INDIA, Painted by Maj A.C. Lovett, text by Maj G.F. MacMunn DSO, Adam and Charles Black, London, 1911, which shows this to be the case. Sincere thanks in advance to anyone who might reply.

Great figure! Its amazing but I happened to have Lovetts book and an Almark book on Indian Cavalry Regiments out on my desk before I read your post. From what I can tell the uniforms are the same its the turbans that are different. But otherwise I agree that the uniforms are the same color and cut.

Hello Dave,
Sincere thanks for your prompt reply to this rather obscure/esoteric question. If you have the inclination, you may want to glance at the following two blog pages; https://arnhemjim.blogspot.com/2019/06/greenwood-ball-connoisseur-military.html
