Is it forbidden by Germany to ship K&C miniatures or diroramas into the country?

I have someone from Germany who wants to buy my LAH112 (Hitlers Berghof), but I am leery about shipping to Germany.

Should I be concerned?

Does anyone have practical experience with this?

Well I shipped 50 German flag sets to a customer in Germany (nazi flag sets). The package was opened by German customs. Several months later I receive a certified letter from German customs basically telling me that I was in violation of they're law "Distributing Right Wing Hate Materials" and that they wanted US customs to assist in my detention. I also received a letter from US customs stating that they declined. I guess they told them to go scratch, And that we have the right to free speech in this country. I also received a second letter a few months later that they were dropping the incident because they couldn't get in touch with me. I'm so glad that I cancelled my German vacation :)

I still ship to Germany though because I'm greedy

I got my Collectors Showcase "Dutch Buildings" and several K&C LAH figures from a dealer in Canada. It went through customes without any problems. I even had to collect it at the customs office and pay the import tax/fees. That was all they wanted from me - my money

I don't think they have a problem here with a single item or figure. But 50 nazi flags with the swastika could raise some questions.

IMO there shouldn't be a problem shipping the Berghof to a fellow collector in Germany.

I don't think it will be a problem as its a building but, parade figures etc really seem to get the customs etc in germany a little confused as to what they should do. I had some old Parade figures sent to me from a Guy selling his figures in Germany lots of flags etc and, when I recieved the parcel there was a letter inside the box thanking me from taking them out of germany!!!!! Could not believe it.

Technically the law is any symbols they consider "Hate Symbols". I have also had German Customs confiscate sixth scale WWII German medals and other uniform insignia. Any thing with swastikas, SS ruins, etc they just don't like. Incidentally they're are similar laws on the books in the UK and France that I know of, but they are rarely enforced.

German customs was extremely tough on me...no Nazi related material in my shipment...but a master case of 9 boxes of JJD French Indian War were re-delivered to my door steps after 3 months...the master box had been opened and re-taped...one single JJD box had been opened, inspected and rewrapped...the set was severely damaged...not the kind of damage that would happen in shipping or unwrapping...in my opinion...the set had been damaged purposely by hand...the damage was too severe to be by accident...both figures were mangled...intentionally destroyed...the individual cardboard box that contained them was still in perfect shape...the master case was in perfect shape...the soldiers were bent up beyond repair...I would bet money confidently that they were purposely damaged by hand...

German customs is not really confused - they criminalize a german when he bought Third Reich figures; the signs are in Germany (Swastika and SS-signs) forbidden. You can pay thousands (or ten thousends) of Euro that for; and you are a Criminal! This is German law!
You must know: Germans are often crazy; wants to be "the best humans on the planet", means in this todays world: Men want to be like wifes; wifes are the better men; leftism is democracy; ... and it means: every one interested in NAZI FIGURES IS A NAZI.
I do not want to say more about this; could be easy go a poltical way (and thats not the best for such a forum).

Thats disgraceful

Hi Guys,

As a GI stationed here in Germany over 15 years ago they were very swift to enforce the law against anything that had a connection to the 3rd Reich. I wanted to buys some coins from a friend but she was afrarid she would get arrested if she was discovered selling these items let alone being in possession of them.

Now flash forward to today and I can tell you that there are tons of items for sale here at flea markets both original and repros. I looked at an Knights Cross two weeks ago that was in very good condition and was original the catch was the swastica was covered up with a sticker to keep it from offending anyone.

As for the customs folks I havent tried to ship anything with a swastica on it so I cant comment dirrectly but I would imagine that they would merely see the item for what it is a model but you never know.

The German laws banning display of Nazi emblems have nothing to do with the Germans "being crazy" and not so much to do with "leftism", except in a distant sense, in that continental political philosophy doesn't have as strong a tradtion of freedom of expression, as ours, ie, British and American political philosophy, does. The laws were borne of the immediate aftermath of the defeat of Germany in 1945 and the occupation. The Allied Control Council enforced a ban on the party, its organizations and symbols, and those bans were taken up into German law with the founding of the Federal Republic. Similar laws were created in Austria, for the same reason. Other countries that had suffered under German occupation implemented similar bans, and they became part of EU regulations.

I'm not defending the ban, I'm only offering some clarity. I am thankful that I was born an American, and that we have our Constitution.

Prost!
