I don't know the answer but earlier this year Bill Moore was selling a whole bunch of K & C, including some that had been exposed to water and I believe nothing affected the paint job. So, you're probably ok.
I would suggest water resistant rather than waterproof. The paints used are acryllic, but as Brad said, I managed to pick up one of the water exposed tanks from Bill, and the tank / figures were fine.
Just wondering about that, I assured my wife that the three guys in the dinghy wouldn't float (crossing the river WS44) but it did set of an idea of how the piece would fare if as part of a diorama I had actual water and the dinghy was sitting in the water?
