Dads Army co writer David Croft has passed away in his sleep aged 89 . He was responsible for co creating with Jimmy Perry quite possibly the best loved sitcom this country has ever produced, loved by millions it still attracts large viewing numbers to this day, over forty years after it was first screened. I doubt we will ever see such a great collection of characters and such a subtle and affectionate send up of the English class system during Wartime. I was lucky enough to meet Mr Croft some years back at the Imperial War museum and he was a gentleman.

My deepest respects.

Rob

I spent 7 years of my life in England during the early to late 70's. One of my favorite shows was Dad's
Army. Miss that show, very sad news.

I heard the news driving to work last Thursday morning and as a former member of the Dad's Army Appreciation Society it saddened me. I'm sure all the flags at Walmington-on-Sea remain at half mast.

If you are interested, the Dad's Army Museum at Thetford in Norfolk UK has a website and the link is http://dadsarmythetford.org.uk/museum.htm
