Re-painted Flak '41 (1 Viewer)

The Flak 41 desert version is tops in my book. Great job.

However, did they use the FLAK 41 in the N. Africa desert campaign. I bet they probably used this paint scheme on the Eastern Front though.

Carlos - about 44 of the Flak '41 guns were sent to Tunisia in late 1942. Half went to the bottom of the Mediterranean Sea. I have a Time Life photo featuring a number of US captured 88mm guns and a Flak '41 can be seen in the very distance of the photo. I'll try and find and post.

Breslau is right the gun did travel to Afrika but, its service was short lived compared to traditional 88's too many problems and it could not cope with the desert conditions.

Don't worry about it breslau:

My comment wasn't meant as a critique, I was just more curious about when deployed. Your re-paint remains a work of art.

You mentioned some of this was broken what parts were broken and do you have any pics of the process of repair?

Nearly missed this thread. Excellent work and thanks for posting the images of a great paint job.

Hello Mitch - the obvious problem was the soldier seated on the gun. The seat broke-off. In one of the comparison photos this is clear. The soldier came off the seat really easy and the seat has been re-fixed. You can't tell there was a problem.

The other less obvious issue is the gun barrel is very loose and droops to the left side - I presume damaged while in transit. I have not fixed this yet and the photos don't reveal the fault. I think I need to drill and insert a pin across the end of the barrel near the firing mechanism to stop the droop and allow the barrel to elevate and stay-up. I need to get some advice before doing.
