This is a general question not limited to re-painting K&C figures. Does anyone have a recommendation for any type of paint that would be suitable for any of the miniatures that are most commonly collected? Thanks.
I believe K & C uses Tamiya for touch ups so that might be the best. The subject was discussed a long time (at least a year) so if you do a search you might find the thread discussing it.
I used a mixture of Vallejo and Tamiya acrylics. I think Vallejo gives a better result. Some of my repaints are still in the works... will post pictures soon.
I've good results repainting those "Subpar" Collector showcase figures into the more vibrant K&C color scheme. I am very happy with the outcome.
The biggest challenge is painting the eyes... I can never imitate K&C's eye paint job. Anyone has advise? What kind of brush to use? I am having difficulty painting the fine details of the eye.
This makes me become more awestruck with First Legion's (a new company) painting. The eye detail is superb.
I just began repainting 1 week ago. Before that, I was very afraid to ruin my figures. I am converting some of my field grey figures into Afrika Korps.
My painting experience made me discover that the painters in China are amazing. It is not easy to do the painting and very very very time consuming. I have only repainted 2 - 3 figures in 1 week.
I have used vallejo for minor touch up,and also for one very serious reconstruction project. I received a figure through mail once and it was basically crushed. The company promptly replaced the figure and left the damaged piece at my disposal. So with some crazy glue and no small amount of paint and patience I doctored it up and you can hardly tell without getting up very close. Rob
