I tried to repaint some K&C and Del PRado figures with good results on the uniform using Vallejo acrylics. However, even I used the finest and most pointed brush but no matter how hard I tried I just can't paint the eyes in K&C style....

Speaking of First Legion figures, their eyes are amazing. I swear I can see the iris details with a magnifying glass!

Luckily, the Vallejo acrylics is just amazing (comparing to those Tamiya paints that I was used to). I can use clean water to wipe off the painting on the face of a figure whenever I screwed up, and the original K&C painting will still be intact... I had fun doing it, reminds me of the John Woo movie 'Face Off'

Any experts here can shed some light on how to paint eyes?

dunno about painting ,be impossible for me to do , but you can cheat by using eye transfers;):D:D

'K&C eyes' seem to come in a couple of variations, either black or blue over white, or black or blue over white with black upper lined. I find it tricky, but generally just use a very fine brush and put a thin oval of just off white, going horizontally, followed by the blue or black as an almost vertical line / blob, using tiny amouts of paint, and building up to the required diameter.

You are all very brave men thats all i can say!

I've got a spare set of the FJ01 MG team, which I want to paint up in the same scheme as the FJ Show figure. That said, I'll leave the faces well alone, no point in mucking about with something already so well done.

Never has a truer description been attributed to me.
Unfortunately, the description lacks the necessary clarity to distinguish what type of artist I actually am.:p

I have the ever increasing urge the try my hand at taking a K&C figure, stripping the paint and re-painting in gloss to see what today’s level of sculpting and casting and shiny paint can achieve.

Any thoughts?

Yes, don't bother trying to strip it first. Restart from scratch on top of the existing paint job.
I've tried all sorts to remove paint back to bare metal on some of these painted figures, and find it almost impossible. Which is ironic when a badly packed figure sent by mail, can almost strip a figure clean

I think there's enough definition there to slap the paint on top jeff, that way you won't end up needing to build up layers on the bits where you've managed to chp a bit of paint off.

Other than that, I'd say go for it. But do a step by step photo guide, as a type of forum torture thread and see how many members admit to crying whilst watching the process. :D

Is it really as hard as that? I have used a jelly type paint stripper before, where I immerse the figure for a few days and it has removed 3 or 4 layers of paint ok.

Hmmmm, I didn't leave it that long, I have to admit. Might have to give that another go in light of this. I have used the jelly paint stripper, and have tried full strength oven cleaner, but to no avail. The paint stripper did clean the oven nicely though....left the roast chicken with a funny twang mind

HAHAHAHA that is way too funny, you're not walking backwards I hope because of it are you Simon ??

And Jeff I would say give it a go. I would say your talents certainly wouldn't go a miss on a K&C figure.
