Real Problems With NMA Tanks (1 Viewer)

And me,i really like their Tanks.

I love the Strumtiger Blake produced. Not perfect but is a real good piece. I don't understand why they did'nt sell out. It was such a odd German piece of equipment.

3. The vision port holes are missing off the gun mantlet - it's a small thing and it has certainly not put anybody else off what I think is a superb model. I don't think there is anybody out there who has produced an exact replica of a Tiger without some small detail missing including K&C (and they still make great vehicles which sell by the thousand) Sometimes when you go down to 1/30th scale something's do get missed off otherwise you would spend years going backwards and forwards rectifying every little mistake.

Best Regards

Blake

Joshua Lionel Cohen once built a scale locomotive called the Hudson. The ad said it was a true scale model down to the last bolt. It was supposed to have 1325 bolts. Some guy counted it and complained it was six short. It was. That steamed JLC ! Some guys do not miss much.

Thats funny KV,he got 'Steamed' about his Locomotive!:D.Sorry guys not much going on this morning, got to make my own amusement where i can!

Marders in Africa

Hi John,

Did you mean Marder III ausf H?. The Marder III "M" didn't serve in N Africa. The H and the original Marder III with the Soviet 76.2cm AT gin [SdKfz 139], did.

Cheers, Dave

Sheesh....What a fuss about nuthin'. If the lack of vision ports on a gun mantlet can cause this kind of debate, then I look forward to the entertainment on offer when a manufacturer commits a real snafu
If it's that big a deal, then surely a few minutes work with a jewellers drill bit will fix it - sorted.
Modellers to do tend to be more nit-picking (generalization of course) than collectors. It's a different hobby after all. But instead of proudly counting rivets, or debating endlessly about a certain shade of camo paint, I'd much rather have an item in my collection that looks good in the display cabinet and adds relevance to the particular mood I'm trying to convey or story I'm trying to put across in the display.
And I'm already planning on replacing my two (different manufacturers) Tigers in one of my BotB dios with those from NMA - cos,
a) I think they look better,
and;
b) The NMA tank figures are sooooo much better than the other manufactures.

Like it's been said so many times before, if you don't like it then buy something else.
Just my tuppence-worth of course.:)

Cheers

H,

If you like Tiger's, check out Figarti's if you haven't already. They're a bit pricy compared to others but there is incredible value there with the interior and exterior detailing. IMO, the detailing is 1/35 master standards.

The tank is 1/32 but for some reason the size is almost exactly the same as past Tigers KC has produced in the past.

I second that. Carlos posted many photos from the Chicago show last year. At first I was skeptical but very glad that I purchased that Tiger. It's a one of a kind and still available from Treefrog even though it's now retired. You'd probably be sorry if you missed adding it to your collection.

Thanks Carlos (and you also Brad) for the advice. I have in fact hummed and prevaricated (can't spell heyed) at length about the Figarti Tigers and from what I've seen on the Treefrog website they certainly look the biz. But I want something a bit simpler (and cheaper) for my BotB dio. The present FofV items I have don't really cut it IMO. The new NMA Tigers look like they'll suit me, maybe even one of the Marders as well.

Dunno though. Where do you stop? I'm (definitely) ordering the first Crimean set from K&C UK early next week.
Meanwhile, Little Boss has been nippin' mah heid lately about adding to her SofOHK and LAH collection. And, I'd like to add a few more Crusaders to those few that I've already got (not the Brit WW2 Crusader tank, BTW)....and more Naps....and....and....:eek:

Aaaargh....anyone want to buy a 400+ collection of 1970's, 80's & 90's music CD's that's presently stored at my parents place in the YUK???;)

Cheers

Harry,

I see that your wife collects SOHK, so does mine. I think that these figures have to be the best painted that K&C make.

Jeff

You both are very lucky to have wives that collect K&C,talk about license to spend!:D

Rob.

Think about it..........whilst we are buying these for our darling wives :) it means less money available for our own purchases :(

Yeah well, hmmm, there was in fact a nefarious plot behind it all.
SofHK and some items from the Imperial range were the very first K&C figurines I bought. Even though Little Boss is mainland Chinese, I knew she'd never seen seen anything like these before (funnily enough, she said that when we first met also - but I digress). Anyway, I reckoned if I could get her hooked then I'd have carte blanche permission to go ahead and get my own WW2, Naps, etc. And in addition, I'd have a great excuse to stop (okay - minimize) the regular visits to the shopping malls here in Dubai. And "supercallyfragilisticexpealidicious", thats exactly how it worked out.:D:D:
Only cloud in the silver lining is that I myself also got hooked on SoHK. Like you say Jeff, the paintwork is exquisite.;)
Still scratch my head at her liking for LAH though. Must speak volumes about her upbringing.
Our entire collection along with the other household goods, is presently packed up in a 20ft container down at Dubai docks in preperation for our relocation back to China. No idea what Chinese customs officials will make of it all when they open up the container for inspection though. Knowing them, I'm willing to bet they'll suspect us of trying to bring them in to sell - No Chance...!!!
Ooops - didn't mean to go on and on. Going to have to log off anyway, cois she's hassling me to get back to the treefrog website.

Cheers

I tried that plan myself as my wife is also Chinese. In my case, it didn't work :( However, the SOHK is probably the most amazing range. The first time I saw them I was blown away. Don't collect them though. Just don't have the room.

The quality of the paint work may be the reason whatever people say about the subject matter the finishing on the figures is superb.

Do you/your wife collect the matt or gloss range of SOHK? My wife prefers the matt versions.

Jeff,
Re LAH, rather than the admittedly attractive paint jobs, I think it’s more the idea of mass parades and messianic (is that a real word?) personality cults surrounding totalitarian political systems that presses the button. Quite apart from Hitler and his gang of thugs, I'm thinking Mussolini, Peron, Stalin, Franco, Wilhelm II, Galtiari, etc. here. Even the YUK had our own version in Moseley and the unmissed Saddam also knew how to press that same button. I'm also banned from saying anything derogatory about Mao, but the same comments hold.

As for the subject matter, The Boss's LAH display has caused a few embarrassing moments. Before the entire collection was packed away, I had a hard time explaining to 1st time visitors to our apartment that, no I'm not a neo-Nazi...!!! Mind you after admiring the other ranges and displays we have, it was always the LAH that they gravitated back to, which kinda proves my point about the fascination level.

Must be an aging hippy right enough.

We both prefer the matt versions of the SOHK range. It was the incredible improvement in realism and quality that attracted me (read - sucked me) into the world of modern toy soldiers. Was never interested in the glossies but became increasingly disenchanted with the "rivet-counters" in the modelling community and drifted away from the miniature figurine hobby for many years. So I'm really glad that excellent manufacturers such as K&C, NMA, Figarti, John Jenkins, etc. dragged me back into it with the fantastic ranges they offer.:)

I'm also delighted to have discovered such a vibrant community in the Treefrog forum. Some real characters here - that's for sure. Reminds me of some of the discussions in our apartment.

"Och, away an' no be so daft" :D:D
