There has to be a host but the one that sits out the front for me, is the scene in Rambo 3 (? - the one set in Afghanistan) where Stallone is 'driving' a tank he has captured - while standing up in the turret! and also manages to shoot down a helicopter - again, while sitting half way out of the thing!

Rather than the outrageous scenes from action films or scenes where minutia is wrong, there's the scenes that reputable historians agree that something just didn't happen. There's also the scenes that defy the laws of physics or even the local standards of good taste.

Waaaaaaaayyyy too big a topic.

Air force 1943 with John Garfield is chock full of goofs but it's a fun movie.

You're right - a very big topic. I remember how as a pretty young kid, being very perplexed by a scene in 'Time Tunnel' (I think that was its name?). The heroes were stuck in a castle with Marco Polo if I recall correctly. A huge horde of steppe riders (Mongols or something) was charging down and the people in the control roon were all squarking that their 'boys' could never survive this charge - so they sent a box of fuses through and Marco Polo used them to set of fireworks to break up the attack. Anyway, all through this I was thinking - but they're in a castle! Horses, even lots of them, even riden by vicious Mongols, can't run over a castle! A very stupid storyline indeed.

Minutia:
Almost all the weapons in the second Sherlock Holmes are around 20 years early (invented in 1910s, not 1890s). Including knuckleduster.

Perhaps the biggest error in the film is actually to be found in the credits when he dedicates this peice of film making to the 'gallant people of Afghanistan'! Do you think a remake might alter the dedication?

Well at the risk of turning into a historical discussion , the west...well the USA, were supporting those folks in the good fight againt the russkies. Both with money , AA missiles and SF ....like Rambo!
As a matter of fact 10's of 1000's of donkeys too......but that is another muddy story.

hey did anyone notice in the beginning of Gladiator that the germans were actually doing the Zulu chant (from Zulu)? it is an actual fact I have since found out that they borrowed the sound bite for Gladiator.!!! So that is the worst! How can you steal from Zulu?

Carry on with your mud pies!

The worst thing about Time Tunnel was that in Australia it was never shown in order!

Was it the 'Blue Max' or 'Brown and Richtofen' that had Tiger Moths done up as German fighters?

A recent documentary featuring Lexington and Concord had mountains in the distance. The Rebels miniseries back in the 70s has Valley Forge in the mountains.

I find that a lot of the lower budget productions of Canadian versions of DDay etc that came out after Saving Private Ryan although a pleasure to see and watch were disappointing in comparison.
bad war movie huh? There are some real dogs but i just cant put a name to them!

Blue Max for sure. Can't remember about R & B. In fairness to Blue Max, they did build passable versions of the Fokker D-7's, Pfalz D-3, and Fokker Triplane, and the SE-5. The Tiger Moth conversions weren't used as the main, close-up aircraft for the most part. They were very noticible though. I guess the budget only allowed for so many rebuilds. -- Al

The Zulu chant in Gladiator was noticed right away by me and the friend I went to see the movie with but I didn't know it had been deliberately lifted. As to all-time howlers, I would vote for just about the whole Battle of the Bulge film. Everything about it makes me cringe. All I can say is it was a huge break for the US that Henry Fonda was there to save the day at every point on the front.:rolleyes2: -- Al

They had the planes from the film Blue max at Booker museaum till it closed

Arnie uses a M-60 in Commando keep your eye on the ammo belt seems to get longer!

Despite the wrong AFVs, I like the BOB movie. I hated the ending, where they're destroying German tanks by rolling fuel drums down a hill.

^&grin^&grin

Yes the residents around Bastogne have no idea they live desert scrubland do they^&grin

Rob
Why Rob, have you never seen the desert of the Ardennes? It adjoins the arid land of Flanders.^&grin -- Al
