Good to see your progress on these figures, and I'm looking forward to the finished result.

Just one question, where are the gunners hands? What is he holding?

John

Oh, now I see, I went too quick, looks like a linstock to fire the gun ?

Hi Gary,

Nice painting on these figures. You have some great looking EK figures there.

OK, I see that now ......

There is now a gunner holding a shot, one has the sponge and this guy with the rammer for the charge or shot. The gun commander has just given the order to "LOAD".

It's a pity that makers don't have a full crew, because to load there has to be a charge down the barrel before the shot, so an extra gunner would be useful.

Anyway, I do like your work and I'm looking forward to seeing this project completed soon, keep up the good work,

John

Thanks John that's a great compliment coming
From you having seen many excellent examples
Of your work. I don't have your knowledge of the
Mechanics of a gun in action I'm painting
Them for a gent whose bought some off my other
Painted castings. Here's some more progress shots.

The guy with 'sponge?' like thing needs the hands
And pole and finishing off. The guy with the ramrod
Is base coated apart from the head which is finished
. The crew commander is just base coated and for
Some weird reason the purple has a gloss look
I'll sort that in the varnishing.

A little more work tonight the guy with the sponge just needs the base painting. The other guy needs his dagger and leather goods detailing as well as the base.

They look good. Nice colour choices for the pants.

What Vallejo skin colours do you use?

Hi,

I usually use the Andrea skin tones set. But on this occasion I tried out a new method I saw on the Planetfigure.com website under the articles section entitled painting figures in acrylics.

All Vallejo paint:

base coat brown sand 876
first light 876 and basic skin tone 815 (more 815 for 2nd and 3rd light)
shadow 876 & cadium red 814 same for second shadow.
third shadow cadmium red 859

i am really happy with the outcome they look better in person.

cheers

Gary

Nearly finished.
