Well guys thats me into the reenacting hobby!
This weekend I was in the battle through time with the Normandy 44 and Kampfgruppe Schottland!I was portraying the German Panzer Lehr regiment, and have decided to stick with this regiment, as there are no attrocities associated with this regiment, and it was like the teaching regiment for all other units in the German army!
The battle on the Saturday was ruined by a thick fog which arrived just before the battle, stayed through it, then left after it!
A bit at the front of the trench collapsed saturday morning so we had to fix it, so the batle had to be changed and instead of being shot, I was captured by the yanks! But they ha dno idea where we were going, so I ended up being shoved through a huge field of 7ft nettles and the rangers accidently decked me, but they did help me back up, and then just before the bit where the audience could see us the yanks whispered that they were going to grab my y straps and as the ground was uneven I was rather greatful!
Sunday's battle was amazing, got captured again, but ths's only because I am too young to fire a blank firing weapon! The sun came out right before the battle and stayed all the way through it then it poured after it, but we could not have asked for anything better! On the saturday the fog restricted the sight of the pyro bombs and flashes from guns, but on Sunday the battle was a clear field of fire! Mud and grass flew everyhere, smoke and flashes from guns was all over the air, the audience were cheering and wooping, then when catching sight of me shouted 'batter him'! Was great, but believe me you don't reaise just how much you are wearing till you're running through a churned up battlefield with bombs and guns going off beside your head and with your arms on your head the whole way there! On Sunday night I went up to my toy soldier room and I swear to god it actually hurt me to look at my figures, because until you have spent two days in the lives of a soldier carrying Kit everywhere, you have no idea how heavy it is!
I absolutely love this hobby!Almost as much as Toy soldiers!
Next Wednesday the 21st of July is the War and Peace show in Kent, I think I am going to be with the Amnericans this time, the very same ones who captured me!
If anyone is going then please tell me and I could maybe start putting faces to names!
The next month Saturday the 28th of August to the 30th of August is Military Odyssey ad I will be at that too, and I have been told that King and Country are usually there!
Thanks for reading guys!
