Valzer ragazzi

The Reggiane RE2002 was the Guiseppe Cenni plane

Valzer (Waltz) !

The radio call, that Cenni had started to give to his pilots since the first actions of dive with the Stuka, of his 239th Squadron Autonomous Divers, was:

«Valzer ragazzi!»

(radio call that Cenni gave to 239ª s.a.t. before the "Tuffo")

The "Waltz!" was not only an invitation to dive, but became, for Cenni and his men, a motto in use both in flight and on the ground. An invitation to light-hearted moments, as well as to the most dramatic ones.

This phrase, even after the death of Cenni, remained always present in the group: so much so that, since 1993, the "Valzer!" appeared, as a special color, on the tail of the planes of the 102nd Group (F-104 first and Tornado then).

And even today there is no Group toast that does not end with a "Valzer!": today as yesterday symbol of the values of the 102º.

Great pics and welcome to the forum!

The Italians made some impressive aircraft prior to their involvement in WWII.
