Anyone know the regiment or got any reference material for painting these

Thanks

Gary

Going on the headdress that is a busby with a bag of the left side, they look like the band of the Royal Artillery

But the coat on the figures has pockets below the belt.

I had initially thought of the band of the Rifles, but the hat isn't right but does the arms have wings on the shoulders?

Any other suggestions ???

Looking at the internet, I notice that Mitrecap Min produces quite a number of Yeomanry kits.

Perhaps you could consider yeomanry units too?

This is a tough one to crack. I'm leaning towards the Rifles due to the pockets.

I have learnt that Royal Corps Signals Band, South Yorkshire Yeomanry Brass Band and several Canadian army bands all wear busbys but the uniforms do not match perfectly.

I guess if you get stuck you could always modify the figures to match the uniforms ( file off the pockets, add the winglets to the shoulders, etc).

Will be interested in seeing these figures painted.

P.S It's a shame JohnnyBach is no longer with us as he was knowledgeable on military bands.

Thanks yes I’m struggling to find the correct unit. Hopefully when they arrive from eBay there might be some clues

Sorry, I have had a look at their hat and it does not have a bag on the left hand side, only the Royal Artillery Band and the Royal Horse Artillery have that hat.

I'd suggest filing off the pockets with their buttons, then you have a correct uniform.

Ah, OK, are those photos from the auction, not your own? If so, then the best case scenario is that when you have the box in hand, you find that there is a label or some other writing on the other end that identifies the set. It is possible that the box is marked and the seller overlooked sharing a photo of additional labels or marking.

Prost!

Re: Regiment ID or uniform reference please for Mitrecap Miniature castings

As far as Mitrecap goes, it might be worth it to run some websearches and see what you find. I found this blog, for example:

https://suburbanmilitarism.wordpress.com/tag/mitrecap-miniatures/

I was looking specifically for a catalog or list. That blog does show an example of the sheet packed with an individual figure kit. It's possible that someone may have posted catalogs, lists, etc, somewhere online.

Prost!

I think I figured it out! Pre-1987, the Royal Artillery Band wore the No.1 Dress Blues instead of the unique, altered blue tunics they wear today. The No. 1 Dress Blues, still in use by many non-band units, have pockets. See a picture of the band in 1980 and a few links below. Note that the pockets are hard to make out in the picture, but that they are definitely there. The bandmaster (with the white plume) does not have the pockets, but everyone else does. Look for the breast pocket buttons (some are covered by cartouche box straps) and the vertical lines of slight discoloration.

Brilliant work :)

Because Mitrecap was a maker from the 1970's and 80s they would have made the figures in the uniform of the time so now the band can be painted like that.

Now I'm looking forward to seeing painted and finished and playing "The British Grenadiers" which is a traditional marching song of British, Australian and Canadian Artillery whose badge of identification features a grenade, the tune of which dates from the 17th century. It is the Regimental Quick March of the Royal Artillery (since 1716)
