Interesting item on the news this morning showing the troops rehearsing for the Royal marriage. Household cavalry wearing khaki no2 dress (mounted order with helmet and plume, plain saddles without fleeces. Poor beggars had been up since 0200 hours. It's interesting what military activities can be seen in the early morning in London. I remember the Guards rehearsing for the Trooping in Chelsea barracks wearing wooly pullies and bearskins, the early morning Household Cavalry recruits ride, and the King's Troop exercising riding one and leading two. Some unusual subjects for figures, I know that Squadron Range, now marketed by Tradition, make the Guards in rehearsal configuration, but the HC figure would be nice. Trooper

It's called "Escort Rehearsal Order". I've often thought of making figures in some of the more unusual orders we wore but wasn't sure if there was much of a market.
Blanket Ride, for instance. Worn at 06.00 when any horse going on guard is exercised in the indoor school. Dress= overalls, DMS boots and hard hat with silk. The horse wears brown head kit and a blanket to protect his back held on with a surcingle. Or "Rent a crowd" any order of dress but waving blankets and making lots of noise, in order to get young horses used to it. Although to be honest you'de have to ride them through a football match to equal the the amount of noise that will be generated on Friday!^&grin

I think it would be neat but the full dress uniform is so much better.

I agree that the full dress is more colourful but I do like to see the unusual and less commonly seen variations. For example the Guards have pioneers complete with aprons and full dress but they are only seen once a year at the annual inspection. Trooper
