Would anyone know if the railcars have underside details?

What gives them their strenght to hold up a heavy polystone tank?

I'm very excited about this range...Infact, I was going to sell off ALL of my Honor Bound collection of Panthers over the next 4 weeks, but this new Reichsbahn range changed everything for me. I preordered all and jumped on the though of the upcoming Panther railcar ( ETG-045 ) in combo with my HB Panthers and preorder those also..:)

That's what I am thinking.:) When the HD flat comes out, I will get a couple to display tanks on.

I see that Treefrog Treasures is NOT stocking the Reichsbahn line and wondered if this was a "let down" to their customer base. Is it because there's not enough profit in it "to bother"? Wondered to about the wisdom of not chosing too sell this line, is it politics?

I noticed the railcars have details like the air brake cylinder and brake lines. The decks of the railcars are pretty strong since Figarti had two Panzer IV's on the deck of light flatcar wagon (ETG-037) and this car still easily rolled on the rails. Finally, Figarti did not introduce a medium flatcar with 4 wheels which carried a Panther, so I am not sure what ETG-045 is. :)

"Figarti had two Panzer IV's on the deck of light flatcar wagon (ETG-037)"

Would this car be correct for transporting these tanks?

I think the flatbed would take Panzer IV but, I think its a good question from IXEC as I was thinking about HB AFV's and wondered about weight as I cannot think of many heavier than HB tanks

As I understand it, because of the exclusives TF has with other distributors/retailers, TF would either have to take a loss selling the product, or mark it up substantially (as othe retailrs did) if they offered the trains.

I hope I'm not speaking out of turn when I say that in private discussion w/TF they said they'd be willing to find a way to make the trains available to customers despite this (don't know if the offer still stands - I'd recommend contacting them privately as well).

Personally, of I was initially disappointed that I couldn't order the trains from TF. They are my retailer of choice b/c of their fast and free shipping, "rivet reward "discounts" and excellent customer service. I very much appreciated that their offer, but could not it good conscience ask a retailer that's been so good to me to take a loss.

I can't speak for their entire customer base, but I came away with positive feelings about everyone. I'm happy that Figarti made such a great line affordable to consumers. I'm happy that I found another retailer that I like (Hobby Bunker) to take my pre-order. And I'm thrilled that TF was willing to go the extra mile for me. Their goodwill will get them the money they didn't get from the trains in future orders.

I'd also add that I think it's pretty great that TF is providing a forum like this to discuss, and probably help sell, products that their competitors carry. Not having attended Chicago, I doubt I would have been as aware of The Reichsbahn line without this forum. And in general, the community that the TF forums provide is part of what drew me into the hobby and something that enhances my enjoyment of it significantly.

All of that way outweighs me not being able to get an item or two. Others mileage may vary, I suppose.

This post by Rick should answer the question:

Dear All,

There seems to be some confusion on the Karl and the BR-52 availability and pricing. I hope to clarify here:

The BR-52 and the entire range will be available before Christmas. We aim to ship out of China before mid-November. However, we do have some of the carriages ready and they will be shipped out first. The Karl and the railway carriers will also ship out of China before mid-November and will arrive in the US before Christmas.

As for pricing. The BR-52 with Tender and track retails for $499. The Karl by itself is $399, The Karl Railway Carrier with 2 tracks is $399. This affordable price can only be possible by adjusting dealer margins on the above items. There is a possibility that your dealer may not carry the 3 items above due to the lowered margins, if so, please contact Figarti's US distributor. If there are any specific inquiries, please feel free to email us at sales@figarti.com or send me a PM.

Thank you for your support.

One thing for sure is certain that the Rail series has created substantial propaganda from everything from what size, what weight, what price to where we are able to purchase that, it will be a great success as thats all anyone is talking about on the whole.

Lots of Hope I am not talking out of line and mentioning of private conversations (was I not berated recently for such things?? never mind.) and politics etc its about a hobby and its all taken too seriously IMO.

read with interest this notion that dealers were going to take a 'loss' by stocking this item. I don't think a single dealer in the world would offer this product were they going to make a loss and, would any come on here and say ''by the way just to get my collector base the set they want I am willing to take a loss?'' Not a chance. The term raised by the two distributors was 'take a hit' some have choose to take the hit from which, I understand means make less profit than ordinarily one would expect on such sets. Thats very different to making a loss.

Some have raised the price substantially and whether its popular or not IMO that speaks volumes. For sure Rick at Figarti has released the sets of the year as I cannot recall any set which has caused such dialogue.

I just saw & purchased some of the very limited supply of Railcars ( more arriving soon ) that were on hand at the Hobby Bunker, but with the wife waiting in the car I left them at the Hobby Bunker to pick up later.... I have to say they look bigger than I imagined, but the detail is by far better than the stock Figarti pictures. I though the rail beds looked rather plane in the pictures but again they are very well done and seemingly wider than they look in pictures, just outstanding..;) I looked over the personel car to, something I wasn't planning on getting..but it too was so nicely done, I may change my thinking on that...

Made of wood & metal, they looked REAL.... not like toys or models.. I live near the Charles Rowe train store (the largest Lionel dealer in America ) and I go there often with the grandson to look at the working train displays and I have to say...the Figarti Railcars are nothing like anything I've seen before in this venue..there just amazing.

Can't wait for the Engine and Karl when there in, will be getting a call the moment they are..:)

Cheers

IXEC - if you don't mind me asking, which rail cars did you pick up?

Apparently the engine I pre-ordered from HB is on its way, I'd be curious which other ones are in stock. I don't think the Karl or the Railway carrier will be available til Nov or Dec.

Regardless, congratulations...hope you and your grandson enjoy them!

Mark..I purchased ALL of them..:)

Though, I can hear my grandson howl when I tell him their not a "working" rail set..., that is, the Engine won't be able to pull the cars...

The Figarti railcars reminded me of my pre-teen youth when my brother and I sought out the best way to stock our working train set with buildings and such...What my older brother did, after rejecting the unrealistic plastic building sets that were selling in those days, was to buy balsa wood and build them himself,.. The building he made and painted were works of art and really made the train display "POP"

Today, I wouldn't think of using railcars in a display cabinet. UNLESS they were the same hand made works of art. Figarti's railcars are the best 1/30 scale items in my collection..:D

I starting with the locomotive as my first set of this range

Does anyone know if this new series is compatible with Figarti's shock and awe Leopold railway gun?
