As A former Army Medic and Former Air-Force Nurse, I am always thinking about our soldiers overseas and especially the wounded who return to Walter Reed from sometimes devastating injuries. I would like to make a request to everyone on this forum. When making out your holiday cards, if you could kindly send one to the following address. A Recovering American Soldier, C/o Walter Reed Army Medical Center, 6900 Georgia Ave, NW Washington, D.C. 20307-5001 a few words of encouragement and a thank-you could really lift their spirits. I was stationed at Walter Reed between 1978-80, so this is a cause that is close to my heart. Thanks everyone. Tony. [Steel Wheels].

You got it. Excellent suggestion. I am also going to put a note in the card with my number asking the recovering G.I. to call me if there is anything he needs or if he just wants to chat.

do you just address "A Recovering American Soldier" and they will give it to a soldier in the facility.:)

Excellent suggestion. Louis, Sounds like great minds think alike.
Thank you for your post Tony.

Just send it addressed as is, and the Army Medical Corp at Walter Reed will distribute the cards and letters to injured soldiers randomly. This is really a nice thing to do, and for the cost of a stamp, we all can put a smile on the faces of these young kids.

I just posted three cards with the following message:

Dear Recovering American Soldier,

Happy Holidays! Please accept our best wishes for a speedy recovery. We want you to know that you are not forgotten during this holiday season, and that your sacrifices are appreciated by the American people, whose lives you protect.

If you need anything this holiday season, or even just somebody to talk with, we are here for you. Please call us anytime.

Your friends and grateful Americans,

The Badolato-Borg Family: Louis, Meredith, Alec (2 years old) and Ashley (2 months old)
