Has anyone ever repainted a K&C vehicle to Match their own ideas or displays?

I have 2x DD12 LCVPs, one of which was repainted before I purchased it to a very high standard without looking too different from the original.

I repainted a DD101 - M10 Free French myself as I wanted tonuse it in a US display.

I am thinking of painting the DD176 Humber MK II into a German 9th SS Reconnaissance vehicle to go with my Arnhem bridge battle.

Has anyone else ever repainted sets?

Scott

Not myself, but I’ve had some repainted.
I had a spitfire repainted as the black idf spitfire and I had an idf tank redone to have two in my diorama with them being different.

Yes, I repainted the K&C M10 tank destroyer from its "winter" paint job to go with my "Normandy" era troops.

Many moons ago "Alexdakar" graciously agreed to repaint BBA11 (M10 winter version) to a Summer scheme.

How did he do?

Here is another repaint done by Mark Vuncannon (Build A Rama) converting DD51 from DDAY theme to North Africa campaign version.

If you're going to do it, I recommend contacting Mitch. He's an expert at these kinds of jobs.

For me its more of a question of which models HAVEN'T I had repainted.

Most of my K&C stuff is gone, but the majority of my FL, Figarti, etc. tanks get repainted or are in line to get repaints.

I think repainting is a very personal choice. If you want a particular vehicle or figure modified to fit your diorama, tastes, etc. and aren't concerned with reselling it, go for it! If you are thinking about selling it later down the road, it will likely make doing so a little bit more difficult.

You're right and that's the attitude you have to take. Yet, these sold at a very nice price on eBay years later.

I agree with HR, Brendan and Carlos. I have had a lot repainted, but not ones Iwas concerned about resell value. You just never know. I hope some of my repaints increase value since they are well researched and professionally redone, but I realize that may not be the case.

I prefer specific vehicles that are documented, but I also have some artistic touches added.

I repaint my stuff all the time Scott , great fun

Obee mate,
You are too modest. Your work is outstanding and here are a couple more of the sets you have converted for me from European camo to my favourite AK range.
Cheers Howard

John has done some brilliant vehicle repaints for me as well and even though many of the vehicles below may not be K&C, they are brilliantly repainted just the same...
