Resin Church Ruin.jpg Resin...Ruin Church...1/35 scale...39 cm long...21 cm high.....first and last model in resin...takes too long...too expensive just to fool around with...TomB

What a pity Tom, that looks really good. I image a great deal of time involved, so I can understand your reluctance to do more. As a matter of interest you eluded to cost, what type of figure approx does this run out to. As a diorama building it is right up there with the best. Cheers, Robin.

Thanks for the kind words,,,its a bit rough..like my brick laying...learn how to use a level one day.....did not take too long...about 5 hrs..on and off.....resin cost about $70,,wasted a bit until I got the hang of not over mixing...bloody stuff set in about 30 seconds...anything over is wasted....used a bit of sculpey for the set back stuff..too much hassle to try and caste in the resin...overall cost about $80.....reckon I could have done the same in sculpey for about 40/50 dollars and if I were to pour a thin coat of resin on the rear ...that would strengthen it but add to the cost....anyway..I learnt a few things and had fun doing it...TomB

Tom, your post makes me think about using 2-part foam for making pieces like this. Have you thought about trying something like that? I first thought about it, after seeing buildings that Hobby Bunker sells. The foams are similar to 2-part foam insulation; when the 2 parts are mixed and poured into a space or mold, the resulting foam expands to fill the space. I've got a building project for which I want to test this, with a simple shape, much like a Quonset hut. But I think it might work for your pieces, too.

Prost!
