As i think that the quality of K&C as come on in leaps and bounds over the last few years i don't have many regrets regarding missing out on retired sets.

The only one i guess i would really like to have ordered was the Greyhound armoured car,was just wondering if any of you out there missed out on a set that you now really want.?

Since I've been collecting, I haven't missed out anything that I wanted. I actually had the foresight to purchase the Demag when it first retired even though I had no AK sets at the time. Also, I was able to find the Matilda (one of my favorite K & C items) at original retail about 6 months after it retired.

Now, if you ask me about retired items before I started collecting, that's another story. Would have loved to have had those old 88s but no complaints.

Hey Brad,I was lucky enough to get the 222 armd car just after it was retired (thanks to the nevilles for that one). And about a year ago i got the Matilda off of Bill Sager and so was well pleased.I am really content now,i know that the older models have rarity/monetary value but i love the recent stuff and don't think it would sit so well against the old stuff.

I think the Matilda is the one piece I wish I'd bought at the time.
I'm not bothered enough to pay what it goes for now.
I prefer to get the newer stuff.

Luckily I started collecting at the time when the Demag, Flak88 and stugIV were announced as being retired. Not wanting to miss out was what forced me into finally starting collecting after a couple of years of admiration from afar.

Don't worry: the way the demographic profile on the Forum is going, along with basic chronology, we'll soon find a few guys who weren't even born by the time those AN sets were released!

I really do like it and i will probably get it sooner or later but i gotta get me an M10 and a Hummel first.! Maybe i could drop you a line when i'm ready to buy?.

My LATEST "kick myself" item is the DD39 CCKW truck. I have one that is going into a Normandy scene, but I was tempted to get another while they were at reasonable prices and I didn't. Now I wish I had another to add to my BoB stuff, but the prices have climbed and my hobby budget is down. Maybe Andy will send us a winter 2 1/2 tonner next year?

ciao Rob

i think this:retired or not for me is only a thing of personal taste,
i can't buy all k&c ww 2 items so i pick up only the favourite for my collection

i agree with you the new releases are beautiful and better in quality
just to see the hummel for example
