Revell list reissues 1/32nd for 2014 (1 Viewer)

Hi

expanding on this theme - anyone heard if Airfix are reissuing more kits in 1/32nd in 2014?

Would be interesting if they were to reissue the Waterloo and wild west 7th Cavalry

Is REVELL re-issuing it's WWII sets?

Their own sets were actually only 1/35th scale, but excellent, nonetheless. The Matchbox figures released by them are 1/32 however, and sit nicely between Airfix and TSSD/Conte. I haven't seen any where it says they might be re-issued.

I don't quite agree with you.
I also collect 1:35 figures from DRAGON and they don't make mistakes when it comes to scale.
The REVELL figures are larger, almost as large as AIRFIX but not quite 1:32 ether.

For me, it was a real tragedy when REVELL discontinued their 1:32 series after only 4 sets in.
To me, REVELL was like the NEW AIRFIX!
I bought each set with great anticipation for the future releases!
REVELL had so many great choices of 1:72 sets for them to up scale, like the ARDENNES WINTER GERMANS & the SIBERIAN SKI TROOPS.
The rest is history.

Hi

just spotted the RE-issues in 1/32nd - German (02630) & British Infantry (02631) ww2 - these were originally by Matchbox and sculpted by Mr Bill Farmer in the late 1970's. Wonder if they will reissue the other sets?

I really never liked Bill Farmers sculpting to be honest. The faces and necks were always too big and his running poses always sucked.
I didn't hate his work, but there are much better toy soldier sculptors.

I have no idea, however, considering that those were re-leased by other companies ten years or so ago, we know that the molds are still around somewhere. It would be good if they did those.

Dave All those sets are still available right now as recasts! The 7th cavalry figures were done again by I think??? Imex??? And are easy to find so seeing Airfix do any of those sets again is a waste to "ME" I,d rather see them sculpt some new sets and then I might get excited.
The older retired Napoleonic sets from Italeri are getting hard to find, I,d rather see those then Sets that have had copies available the whole time and are easy and cheap to find like Airfix.

Here is a link to the 7th cavalry recasts, why wait for Airfix when they are allready here?????

I don't get the interest in these Airfix reissues they are just horrible!.....I picked up one set just to check them out for myself.
I prefer the recast that CTS sells they are more expensive but at least the same quality as the original 70's version's.

I for one, have all the AIRFIX originals, but where the recasts come in handy is from their semi-stiffness.
It allows for easy conversions, painting, melting and gluing.
What bothers me are the MISSING POSES!

Hello Gentlemen,

The Airfix reissues have their advantages and disadvantages. The semi stiff new issues are easier to clean as far as mold lines are concerned but the thin portions like radio antennas and rifle ends break off too quickly. The original airfix are OK except that the mold lines are a bit harder to remove. I usually use a dentist's torch to get rid of some mold lines after a light scraping with a Victorinox knife. I'd like them to use better plastic, maybe something similar to what Games workshop uses for their plastic models.

Hi - just seen that Revell also list the 1/32nd US INF WW2 for release in 07/2014 - July I presume.

Maybe they will release the 8th Army and DAK in 1/32nd? - they are currently listed for release in 1/76th scale.

Speaking of Revell....

Does anyone own the "1/35" Modern German Armoured Infantry set they put out some years back? From what I've seen online, they are single piece figures (don't require assembly), and might fit nicely with other modern figures from Airfix and ESCI. I mostly curious what size they actually are.

I loved the Revell WWII sets, especially the Afrika Korps and the 8th Army sets. I remember buying them at a cool little hobby shop in Bloomington, Indiana. They had a wall full of model airplanes, and a few of the Revell and Accurate 1/32-1/35 boxes were always sprinkled in. It was like a treasure hunt every time I went in.

Beau,
The Revell modern Germans are a largish 1/35, similar to Esci, but slightly smaller than Airfix. They are pretty reasonable figures.
cheers
Simon

Hi Fish - thanks for info - didn't realise that they reissued them with the correct horses - see them in Imex boxes previously. Must get hold of these but not seen them on sale in England. Regards, Dave
