Review on the JS2 & tank riders. (1 Viewer)

Here is a photo showing the gap between the mudguard and the front of the track at the sprocket. The gap is small in this photo but I have seen other photos where the gap was bigger.
I don't talk about high of the gap, but about depth. Look the interstice between mudguard and top of the tracks on a FOV or an Honour Bound tank, U can see all the top of the track; look on this JS2, U can only see approximately a third.

Yes - I understand what you mean now. I checked My HB Panther, Jagdpanther, Bergepanther and Sherman. They show full width of the top track under the mudguard, but it is very difficult to see on the Sherman as the top track is very close to the mudguard.

I checked a few other Figarti models Some show the full depth of the top of the upper track and some do not. This is also true for K&C. Some do not show the full width of the top track, and some models do. Can't comment on FOV as I don't have any.

Good point. There is still room for improvement on this.

I think that is, the sculptors carve a single block of resin. They should carve, first the body, then wheels, then assemble, finally add metal tracks. That would be definitely better detailed

It would also cost more and I've been told, be more subject to shipping damage. K&C and Figarti have tried to keep the cost of AFV sets down in the current economy, but I do like the idea of full upper tracks. I don't know how much the extra sculpting of a mould would add to the cost or if increased fragility would be a serious issue.

As I have the prototype in my possession, I can assure you that the single block of resin theory is incorrect. The parts of the prototype are sculpted separately and assembled, with metal tracks all around. In the production version, however, to keep costs down, only the bottom of the tracks (from the sprocks down) are metal, and the top of the tracks are polyresin like the body of the tank. Because of that, for strength purposes, on some of the tanks where the clearance between the fenders and the top of the tanks is very narrow, the area between the fenders and the top of the tank is not hollowed out on the production model. I would prefer if it were hollowed out, but you have to look under the fender to see that it is not, so it is not that big a deal to me.

I got my JS-2 today. Very impressive. I wouldn't go so far as to say the best ever (still like those HB tanks) but a fantastic item for less than $200. The packaging was also great with plenty of room to remove the pieces.
