Well here we are with the new K&C American Civil War solider hitting the shelves and not one collector review. As a man who collects Napoleonic first but has a good size Conte and Britian ACW collection I would like to know what people think.

How do the K&C compare size wise? Is the sculpting as good or better? How is that great K&C painting looking in comparison?

Any and all opinions welcome. Since I do not have a local dealer in my neck of the woods I would like a little input before ordering some to reinforce my boys in Gray. Of course being a Union man myself I hope Andy released some stout hearted lads in Blue real soon.

Thanks,

I too am surprised we havn't heard much about these new figures,i thought lots of treefroggers would be be singing the praises of these by now.Could it be that they are not as popular as in previous years?.I really like the look of them but there is no way i'm going down that path as well!

We're noticed that most people who ordered them ordered the whole series and are waiting for the last releases to come out before receiving the shipment. Perhaps they aren't in many people's hands yet.

I have a huge Britains civil war collection mixed with a few Conte. I bought the new KC Jeb Stuart and it is excellent. The size fits and the all around quality of paint and detail is outstanding. It is so good it makes me want to just continue with K&C, but there is still just a limited K&C ACW selection and not much "action" to the figures.

Britains has their "new" mid year ACW posted on the treefrog site. I have always been a big Britains fan, but to be objective, the Conte Armistead and Chamberlain (which I own) completely blow the new Britain Armistead and Conte away. What is odd is that Conte is so hit or miss on their quality, but there are a few like the two I mentioned that are phenomenal. The J. Hood is another one. Compare the new Britains to the Conte I mentioned and it will be clear to you.

Bottom line, the K&C gets a huge thumbs up and looks like it will far surpass all others.

Therse figures are so good that I bought the entire first release at the Symposium, after swearing to myself that I wouldn't get hooked into another K&C line. My review is that they are about the best figures K&C has made to date (which only means they will be outpaced by another release in a month or so).

I also ordered the whole first series. I received by first batch of them today. Absolutely the best ACW figures I have seen aside from a few Russian Miniatures figures I own. The bodies look nice and thin like these guys are living of the land. I especially like the drummer boy figure ! Why does Andy continue to do this to me :) 1st WWII, then the American Revolution, then the Crusades, and now the Civil War ! The only compliant I have is be very careful of the bayonets. The feel fragile and I had to bend them straight. I may also have to touch them up a bit, but silver is an easy fix. I can't wait to see some Yankees !

Thank you all for your reviews. Well you have tipped the balance I am going to order some.

Thanks,

The Civil War is a favorite of mine and I know that I will be buying all of the K&C figures - they do look great.
