Another beauty Steve, I really like the farm house.

Very nice Steve. Looks like a scene out of the Sharpe series!

Brendan

Nice eye. I like the touch of smoke coming from the rifle barrel. Good hand.

Also like the JJD building facade, often thought of getting these 2 pieces, fits your scene nicely Steve. Robin.

Thank you all guys for the nice comments and likes. {sm4}
Spot on Robin and I think those JJD pieces would be very useful for anywhere around the Med and probably down Mexico way and lots of eras. ( I did add the doors, made from Ice lolly sticks !)
The horse is also JJD, the Cart the newish Britains one, though the original colour scheme I thought for civilian / pressed into service use would suit me better in a more aged wood colour. the other building bits are Britians and Del Prado from their Nativity range !

Very well put together series. The more I see of the Kronprinz Frenchmen, the more impressed I am.Well done that man.

It was originally just going to be a one post short story dio, but Brendan planted a seed and so........

Our Rifles patrol firing has stirred up a hornets nest and a much larger force of French Infantry has appeared with some being detached and giving chase.
The Rifles gain some cover and with their more accurate fire make the French more cautious in their pursuit.
The Patrol find a ruined and deserted Convent to get catch their breath while their officer decides on his next move to get them back to their own lines.

Haha! I love the skirmisher high tailin' it back! Very nice Sir.

Excellent. Really enjoyed this thread :)

Where is the well from? Thinking about a similar diorama with JJD Cacadores and the well would look be great.

Hi Simmo
The well is from the Del Prado Nativity range. I got mine on ebay.

Having spent the night making the best of it in the Convent, the following morning just as they reach a river ford the pursuing French catch up, on the far bank there stands a picket of the 92nd guarding the ford. The picket afford the patrol covering fire while they cross and the patrol returns to Wellingtons camp, the wounded Private getting medical attention as the Officer makes his report, just as Wellington returns from his morning ride.

Another tale will follow at a later date !

Can't wait for the next episode! Great fun:D

The barrel/barn door table is brilliant and nice to see we're looking after the French wounded as well.

Nice one.

This gets better and better. The camp scene is terrific. You have a real mixture there, but it works really well.

I've got a little painting of a couple of French wagons to get on with for a Waterloo scene which will keep me busy for awhile before I get back to the Peninsular, Which will come in very handy for a Peninsular dio as well.

Glad you enjoyed the little story. Sometimes have to improvise with what I have and what's available.

About midway through the Peninsular war the British Army did get issued Bell tents, though probably of an earlier pattern to these. I believe it was something like one per Company for the Officers and three for the Men, so probably getting close to twenty in each and when they had them with them, which by accounts wasn't that often !

The wounded were usually sent to Belem near Lisbon in Portugal to recover from their wounds if they were strong enough, many weren't.
The wagons were generally civilian un-sprung ones which travelling for the most part on unmade roads/ tracks must of been excruciating to say the least. The British Army also found very quickly on arrival in the Peninsular that much of the transport they bought with them was far too wide for the roads there too.

Arriving at his camp Wellington is briefed on this fast moving French force and comes to the conclusion they are after a nearby bridge that is the only crossing suitable for Artillery in the immediate area.
He sends an ADC to the bridge to check on the situation. As the officer arrives a Royal Waggoner is bringing in a barrels of salt pork for the camp and a patrol is returning having seen nothing, but then they hear Old trousers being beat out and spot the approaching column. The aide returns to inform Wellington and to send reinforcements. The French intent on taking the bridge send in their Grenadiers.
To be continued !
