Got the sad news today that Al Green of Green's Collectibles has passed away at 85. Al was a staple at the East Coast Toy Soldier shows and carried just about every maker you can imagine. There was always something to find on his tables. I was actually shocked at the news b/c for anyone who knows Al, he truly never seemed his age, he looked young, very tall and always manned all 6-8 of this tables pretty much on his own, loading in and loading out.

In a twist of sad irony, Al followed all COVID rules, avoiding crowds and events for the better part of a year, nothing risky, yet he got a mild case of pneumonia which took him in a week. Repeat NO COVID relation at all.

RIP Al.

That's lousy to hear, he was the energizer rabbit, always on the go, him and I believe either his brother or his brother in Law would set up their shelving and wheel load after load into the shows.............he attended the Chicago Toy Soldier Show one year and was right across the hall from me during the room trading, he and I shared some funny stories and some laughs........

RIP Al indeed.........yet another staple in the hobby is now gone............................

Al was a good guy and I always loved negotiating with him at the shows. Found some real bargains and fair prices for older inventory.
Sad to see him gone but he had a long good life.
Condolences to his family.

He was a presence at every NJ show I attended from 2005 until early 2020. He looked great for 85; I should look that good at his age.

RIP Al.

Thanks for the news Tom,

Al was one of the first people I corresponded with when I set up my toy soldier website and he was a great help and source of toy soldiers for me.

I had quite a few dealings with him to get some special figures, and that continued for a long time.

Sad to hear, but that's life?

John

RIP Al, You were always a gentleman, and I enjoyed chatting with you at shows.:redface2:

Sad news! My prayers and condolences to his family.

Yes, he was a fixture. As we know-George, you've observed often, too-the old generation of familiar faces is passing. Sad that this is the way of life. Enjoy it while you can.
