Just read some sad news, James Gandolfini, great actor made famous by his role as HBO's beloved mobster, Tony Soprano. Shocking news and boy will I miss him, always enjoyed all of his roles, great entertainer. Guess I will have to start re-watching the Sopranos from Season 1.

Sad loss. He was a good actor that I really enjoyed in The Sopranos and as Bear in Get Shorty. RIP. -- Al

I plan on dedicating my next lap dance in his honor. Then I plan on going on a diet, since we were both born in 1961 :(

wow...what a loss...one of my favorite actors...he had gotten pretty obese...when I googled this story...my first thought was perhaps a heart attack...and that's what the early releases are saying...what a shame...

The Sopranos was my all time favorite drama series. It calmed my nerves on Sunday nights in preparation for a tough work week. A great actor and an iconic role.
RIP James and sympathies to his family.

Sorry to hear this.
He was a bit on the heavy side and I am not sure if he was a smoker.
Very sad all round.

Found out about this a few minutes before the start of the hockey game last night, what a gut punch, watched the first period in a bit of a daze as a result.

My all time favorite TV character, his performance gets better each time I watch the series, what a brilliant job he did creating a multi layer character.

What a sin, my thoughts and prayers go out to his family, RIP James..........

Great actor, and in my opinion The Sopranos, best TV show ever. Truely a sad day.
I always held out hope for some sort of Sopranos sequel but no more.

Great actor. Great show. One of the strange things about a show like the Sopranos is that the actors become associated with those roles to such an extent that it's hard to imagine them as anyone else. Even real people. I bet a lot of people said Tony Soprano died yesterday. And in a way, he did. I didn't care a whole lot for the way they ended the show at the time. But now fading to black seems like a case of art imitating life.

A tragic loss to many of us who enjoyed his acting career. Many warm thoughts go out to his family and friends.

Yes it was a big shock - not exactly becayse he was the picture of health - but just that in the role of Soprano, he was so much larger than life. As others have said, it was almost the best TV series ever. It could just stun you sometimes. To go for an example, in a later series, Tony his wife and sister and her husband Bobby were sitting drinking, with Tony hazing Janice - then BOBBY PUNCHED HIM! In the context of the characters it was a far more shocking development than many of the whackings. Astonishing things just came out of nowhere. You just never new when a regular character would find themselves dead!

Yes he will be missed. It will be a long time before another show like the Sopranos.Sopranos, what a name,I didn't even watch the first episode on it's premire night because of that name but my cousin told me it was good.He was right I never missed another episode on Sunday night.

Yes, RIP Tony, great actor and a loss to the film and TV industry. I loved the Sopranos as well, so much so that I watched it twice!
