Died at age 86. One of my favorite actors including the Americanization of Emily and of course The Great Escape. Remembering watching Maverick as a kid, one of dozens of westerns on tv at the time and The Rockford Files, which I think still stands the test of time. Chris

This is sad news. He was one of my favorites. I think I liked him best in his dark western roles like Duel at Diablo and especially his version of Wyatt Earp in Hour of the Gun. RIP. -- Al

Thought him very good in the Great Escape and the Rockford Files always seemed to on when I was a kid! My wife also informs me in was in films with Doris Day, although OBVIOUSLY I know nothing about those!! RIP

Rare roles as "heavy" character. He was also the villain in the Disney Atlantis movie.
