One of the zaniest and best comics ever passed away today at the age of 63. RIP Robin Williams and thanks for the laughs.

I think I read somewhere that he collected toy soldiers.

Williams was an original all the way, whether serious actor or an unequaled comic talent on par with Jonathon Winters. There is no one to take his place in the comic world. A sad loss. -- Al

Jonathan Winters was definitely a toy soldier collector. I am not sure if Robin Williams was.

Very sad and shocking. Mostly known for his comedy but a very good actor. The Fisher King was a great one. You never know what kinds of burdens some people carry.

I saw where they said he was a gamer. He named his daughter Zelda.RIP.Thanks for all the laughs.

I met Robin Williams at a toy soldier shop in NYC.....forgot the name but was on the upper West Side in the basement of a bookstore.
I do remember that he bought several sets of old glossies, maybe Britains/Trophy/Imperial/Marlborough????
We spoke briefly and he was very friendly.
We lost a national treasure! I saw him perform several times and never laughed so hard.
May he rest in peace....

RIP. I don't know how many times I've watched
Good Morning, Vietnam. One of my all time
top favorites.

I have a family member who suffers from depression and it can be a terrible thing.

RIP. A bright light is extinguished.

I couldn't believe when I read this today! I loved his humour and he has been in some awesome films over the years. The world is a sadder place without him.

R.I.P. Robin

I didn't know that Robin Williams made so
many trips overseas to entertain the troops.

"Williams was one of the first entertainers to go on a USO tour to Southwest Asia in 2002 and ultimately performed for U.S. troops in Afghanistan, Bahrain, Djibouti, Germany, Iraq, Italy, Kuwait, Kyrgyzstan, Qatar, Spain, Turkey, United Arab Emirates and the U.S., Thompson said in an email to Military Times.

During his six USO tours and entertainment tours, Williams visited wounded warriors, performed at the 2008 USO Gala and traveled with four Joint Chiefs of Staff chairmen on USO holiday tours, Thompson said. His last USO tour was in December 2010."

He clearly had a charitable side that he kept very private.

The world lost a great man on many levels.

Gents,

Been a bummer for my favorite celebs this year. Phillip Seymour Hoffman, Bacall, and now Robin Williams. It is weird when you hear of their passing...it is like losing a cousin or Uncle or something. I mean, I grew up with Robin Williams on my tube from "Na-nu" to all of his funny flicks. Bacall was in all of the classics that I watched with my pops, including one of my favorites "The African Queen". So, I know that I was not related to them but it is like losing this vicarious family member.

I don't know.

The funny man me laugh in my own world and now his passing kinda makes me cry in my own world.

I still don't know.

Tons of great stories emanating from the Bay Area on how much of an everyday guy he was.

He never wore any sort of disguise when he went out shopping nor did he travel in a huge, attention grabbing entourage. He refused to answer to Mr. Williams, preferring to be called Robin. He never turned down an autograph or photo request either.

And as mentioned his charitable contributions were endless.

Great actor and an even better person........
