I have two sets of WS38 , one is labelled 2002 and the other 2004. I only noticed when comparing them that there are subtle differences, such as gun metal instead of black on the MG34 gun, and a size difference in some of the figures...train-spotting observations I know Do the different dates at the bottom of the figure indicate different editions?
I bet it could be a different production run, I imagine in 2 years different painters, and different color choices would reflect the differents you noted.

Interesting comparison shots. The figures I have match up to the figures with mud on their boots and to the right-hand MG34. There are subtle differences in the straps on the guns and in the position of the spare MG34 ammo drum. I would say a different production run, but why change the mold so minimally? Also, IMO, I think the paint job our figures share is a touch sharper than the other set. -- lancer
Upon closer examination and getting my brain working, I think that the "mold" changes I noted earlier are just positioning differences in the add-on straps, guns, and ammo drum. I think they are just a different run. -- lancer
This is exactly what I enjoy most from the Vietnam Series. I have several sets of each figure and each one is slighly different. It makes the figures come alive to me, as each one is unique just as people are. The differences are subtle, a symbol here, an expression written on a helmet or vehicle....it
just makes it more fun!
also means if there is a noticeable difference between different production runs then you can display them beside one another without them looking identical (I particularly like the grobdedeutschland series) Don't know if there are any other examples besides this set and the vietnam sets of differences between production runs?
