Robert E. Lee Glossy ID (1 Viewer)

anyone?? Need a little help here, I can't find this one and I am sure I am just missing it!
Tom

Not Fusilier, Tommy Atkins or Imrie-Risley, either; at least, I don't see it in any of their current catalogs. It looks like it could be painted by a collector, too.

Prost!

Ron Wall?

I'm not sure, Louis. I'd think it'd be marked, in that case, though I don't know if all of his castings are marked. I have a couple of foot figures, and they're marked under the base with "R. Wall" and a year. It's a soft marking, not engraved into the mold, but as if it had been scratched into the base after extracting it from the mold. But that's as good a guess or better, than any we've come up with so far.

Prost!

Thanks Brad.:smile2: I only made the guess because somewhere in a box behind one of the knee walls of the room are Ron Wall standing Robert E. Lee and U.S. Grant figures, and I remember the face and uniform paintjob pretty closely resembling Tom's mounted Robert E. Lee. Mine are scratched marked on the base as well, but Tom's appears to be missing a base.

Hope this finds you well.

Louis

I've had a few Ron Wall and I know Tom has quite a lot of Ron Wall and I don't this Lee is Ron Wall.

It could even be a kit figure, too, though I eliminated the ones that were obvious to me, in my earlier post. I might have to dig out old "Campaigns" and "Military Modeling" issues and look through them.

Prost!

Just an idea Tom, but he just might be a homecast. That horse looks very similar to some Prince August castings that I have bought and painted. Maybe the figure of Lee has been adapted and painted by someone???

Have a look at the Prince August site - and you may see something there that's similar??

Just a thought. jb

Gentleman! Thanks for all of your input. I know I have seen this figure, but I can't place it!

1. The eyes are very familiar and they are a "mark" of a maker I can't remember
2. Not Ron Wall
3. It came from a collection that was heavily glossy K&C, Trophy, Fusilier and Tommy Atkins. There were no non maker items in the collection, so not sure it is homecast, that would be odd for it to be.

It is well painted and the eyes are the key, I just can't remember. Oh well, it shall remain a mystery!

Thanks for all the tries!
Tom
