Rod Stewarts model train Dio is spectacular. 26 years to complete and 124 ft long x 23ft wide.

Sir Rod told Railway Modeller magazine that scenery and structure modelling, rather than locomotives, trackwork or electrics, are his forte.

'It's the landscape I like. Attention to detail, extreme detail, is paramount. There shouldn't be any unsightly gaps or pavements that are too clean,' he said.

Gotta be one of the best train dios ever made.

Imagine what he could have done with toy soldiers ! If he had given up his blonde collecting he could have had the time to do soldiers as well as trains {sm4}

Suspect this issue of Railway Modeller going to be a collectors item in itself.

Absolutely incredible. The sheer size and detail involved is mind-boggling. Bravo, Rod! -- Al

When I look at the first two images, all I can imagine is those buildings all rubbled out and that railyard pockmarked with shellholes as Soviets and Germans fight for control...……...just incredible.

I read an article in a RR magazine 2 years ago about his hobby. The factory is based on his visit to an abandoned steel mill in Bethlehem PA.

Sitting in a room painting trains was not a post-concert activity I would have associated with Rod.

What an incredible dio! At least he has the space. It must be amazing to see all those years of work in person. Every Picture Tells a Story-
