Outstanding work on this miniature, Rod.
Your painting skills came a long way in a very short time.
For what it's worth, as of my judgement, please consider yourself a master painter.
Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful.

Awesome,{eek3}{eek3}{eek3}
Seeing this piece with the quality of his painting (traces of blood!), you "feel" how the battles of that era were "barbarians. " Bravo again.{bravo}}

Rod-

beautiful work my friend- what a wonderful kit to paint- you do not often, if ever, see soldiers on the march with the leather cover attached included with the shield. I am assuming that is a representation of a bull mastiff yes? Pretty big dog to have secured there to say the least ^&grin

I guess the only change I might have made from the histories I have read, would have been to have a vitis staff in his hand rather than the gladius- Clearly with his marching kit, he probably wouldn't be walking with the gladius out unless they just stabbed their dogs if they got out of line.

Beautiful kit, masterful work- thanks for sharing!! You are the man!!

Hey guys thanks a lot for these kind words, MERCI...
Hello Chris, I knew you would like this guy. If you notice, I added some blood on the Gladius to give an idea that he just came out from the forest after a confrontation with some Boudica Celtic warriors...{eek3}{sm3}

Oh yeah, I definately saw that handywork- great effect too!! Would have been really cool if there was an arm hanging out of his dog's mouth!! {sm4}{sm4}

LOL....^&grin

Talking about the dog, I need to do some touch ups + highlights, he is too glossy and the tongue is extremely RED.....

Excellent piece, even if you'd like to touch up the dog ;) Who among us doesn't keep seeing things that he'd want to redo on the things he paints?

Prost!
Brad

Brad, MD and Grant, thank you for your encouragements, appreciated...{sm4}
